I'm definitely not surprised. I watched all the BTS stuff from The Return and he was smoking like a chimney.

I know he is getting up there in age but I can't imagine a world without David Lynch in it.

The last time Naomi Watts saw David Lynch was in late November.

“We had a beautiful lunch at his house,” she recalls of an afternoon spent with the director and fellow Lynch muse Laura Dern. “I knew he’d been unwell but he was in great spirits. He wanted to go back to work — Laura and I were like, ‘You can do it! You could work from the trailer.’ He was not, in any way, done. I could see the creative spirit alive in him.”

I think George Burns was one of the exceptions to smoke till 100, but he smoked cigars. Are they less toxic? I don't know, don't smoke. The fact a lot of people want to quit something suggests it's not as great as they once thought it was.

On topic, I am really glad David Lynch was able to get that last series of Twin Peaks made back in 2017. That was the full circle of his career in my opinion. That series was his trademark I'd say, along with the team he worked with to create it.
