Thats based on the same summer news, still discussing that 2016 to 2018 period.

Quote:
But because of licensing deals struck before Disney crystalized its streaming plan, Disney Plus will lose titles for periods of time. The company hasn't detailed these library gaps, but at least one of them will move popular movies from 2016 through 2018 off Disney Plus back onto Netflix in about six years.
A more important question is whether Netflix will ever be 8K by 2026?

I swear that looks like a bowling ball, with someone trying for a strike. Oh yeah 8K streaming, we'll see sometime in the future.

We Brits are waiting to see Dave in 8K.

YouTube
Amazon operated at a loss for many years, look at them now. This is how the corporate game is played: build up debt like mad in the hope/belief that you'll be the top dog in that sector in 5/10/15 years' time.

I have just discovered something interesting on the BBFC' website which I think people interested in a 8k physical format will be interested in. This is taken from this webpage it's under the paragraph that's titled Using The Symbols:

https://www.bbfc.co.uk/age-rating-symbols-guidelines
Quote:
The minimum size at which the letters and numbers inside the symbols (eg ‘U’, ‘15’, ‘R18’) must be displayed is now 4mm (rather than the previous 5mm). This does not mean that the letters and numbers must be displayed at 4mm, only that the absolute minimum size for display is now 4mm. This change is in response to industry plans to reduce the size of video packaging in future.
It sounds like the industry is planning a change to the size of the packaging. My thinking is that they will slim the cases so that uk releases are the same thickness as the us ones. I can't see them doing this to current blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu ray discs. Could 8K discs be what the "future" in the article is talking about?

With the current samsung 4kbd player snafu you got to be insane to be considering any of their 1rst and 2nd gen 8k tv offerings. They are the main player to push 8k for tvs under 75inches. I think lg may offer one 8k Lcd at 65inch but im not sure. I wonder how this going to effect 8k, i cant imagine people trusting samsung electronics after this. Its really bad for their brand and for 8k in general in terms of mass adoption since most people dont buy screen sizes larger than 65inch

A lot of manufactories do not share the same research/manufacturing between different branches of a company. LG 4K players are awful compared to their OLED TV group. Likewise Samsung manufacturing of UHD players was not associated with their QLED TV group. They do happen to be both Korean based, which reflects they don't place the same value to making media players of high quality. The Japanese, and Chinese companies made both look bad. Samsung marketing 8K TV's even if not of such high quality at least are helping to convince consumers that 8K TVs can be useful in normal sizes. (55"/65"). The dealers tethered to 77" and above for 8K sales will find that is actually a detriment to market penetration gains IMHO.

This cant help Samsung or 8k with them being the main supporter, not everyone does as much research as you or would give the tv division that same benefit of doubt, image and perception are everything and right now samsung has a bad image that they cannot easily fix. Programming devices to self destruct due to major over site is really bad. Aint nobody in the gp with a bricked samsung player going to buy their tvs, cause to them its all part of samsung electronics and they got ****ed by one of their devices

There are hopeful links, tenuous links, then there are threads so gossamer thin you'd need an electron microscope to view them. Your post is the latter.

It does give some info like yearly growth rates, which countries, etc. Content creators are going to wait for the population of 8K TVs to grow to their desired level before considering 8K.

I have to admit/confess that I am a little amazed or even impressed that LCD-based panel manufacturing has gotten so good that we can cram that many pixels/sub-pixels onto a panel and not have more bad/dead/stuck pixels! I still remember one of the first badges of honor when transitioning from a CRT monitor for your computer to an LCD panel was "I got one with no dead pixels!" Heck, one of the selling points used to be (and may still be?) was the better LDC manufacturers warrantied their panels for no dead pixels out of the box!

The TV manufacturers want you to believe that 8K TVs are the absolute latest and greatest of all TVs ever made. They have very good marketing departments and well paid spokespersons hawking their newest wunderkind.
Its only good if it gets 200 instagram likes. DVDs can also get 200 instagram likes so 4k/8k is a gamble. Both can also get only 20 likes. You can get retro recognition on any old technology on instagram.

Quote:
, but not to the point where I'd like to purchase a complete new setup and buy the same films yet again.
I agree. I upgraded films a few times, but then stopped once my instagram bluray pics got under 80 likes and 140 likes for dvds. Its all eye of the beholder. Those dvds were expensive anime boxsets.

For months, we’ve waited for the Canon EOS R5 and R6.

And for months, it’s felt like neither camera would ever actually appear.

But now we have a date to report:

July 9th.

That’s the when the EOS R5 and EOS R6 will officially launch.
