Paid extra to get the steelbooks. Literally nothing about the base cover art excites me.

I shall wait for the collector's edition. Been waiting ages anyway and the new features are something I need.

Hell, in Hi Res images they're noticeably grainier so it's just a Screencap. I wouldn't say it's Bad, it's just Lazy.

More Effort was put into the steelbooks, I went with those.

Well, now I'm torn. To me, an "Ultimate Edition" would be TLOTR remastered UHD with The Hobbit 3D BD..

Since I already have The Hobbit 3D (theatrical & extended), I don't really need them again. But I want the special features of the Ultimate set.

Hmmmm....

Are all the movies going to be in the same box, or individual cases for each film?

Maybe they were trying to out do Universal with the Back To the Future 4k designs.

Not sure who won

Are they correcting Fellowship's color grading for the UHD release?

Unknown. Apparently Peter Jackson prefers it that way, so if anything part 2 and 3 could also have that color grading, but hopefully not.

i have to ask.

The Lord of the Rings - Special Extended Edition Trilogy BR
The Lord of the Rings - Special Extended Edition Trilogy DVD
The Hobbit - The Motion Picture Trilogy (Extended Edition)
The Hobbit - The Motion Picture Trilogy in 3D (and i think that came with the 2D Theatrical Version Rigth?)

i will get something that i don't have if i take the “Middle-earth” 4K Ultimate Collectors’ Edition" (besides the 4k disk) is really worth it?

Hi,

Does anyone know if a Blu-ray release of the LOTR extended exist with regular English subtitles (not for the hard-of-hearing)?

Thank you.

I'm sorry if this has been asked a billion times. I searched and searched these forums and couldn't find anything about this.

My blu-ray trilogy of LOTR does not have a UPC anywhere, on any of the packaging OR inserts. I also saw another (I assume newer) version of the extended trilogy that comes in a simple slip case, as opposed to the fold open box set I have.

So I don't know which version I have! There are only two that look close in the database here. One of them comes with a digital copy (mine doesn't), and one of them shows a UPC on the back of the case (which mine doesn't show).

Any idea what the deal is? Thanks.

^^^ Yup.

ISBN 0-7806-6102-8
UPC 7 94043 14061 7

Note that the above numbers are from my physical set, which I got on initial release (yes, I keep everything... even j-cards), which differs from that on the "back" picture of the set here on the site...

^^^ It took me a bit to track them down (I never used them), but, yes, there are digital copies on the last (Costa Botes) disc of "Return of the King"...

Note that these are SD versions that you have to "install" from the disc, and not a digital copy to be redeemed on Movies Anywhere.

I haven’t seen any of these films in a long time.

Do they still hold up?

...I was never a super fan.

YES! YES! YES!

If you're not a fan before, more than likely you won't be a fan now.
