Has there been any word about the new mega box that's coming later in the year?

The appendices are already almost exhaustive, but I'm hoping for the remaining deleted scenes and gag reels they made for all six films to finally see the light of day. I'd be really disappointed if they don't port over the already existing features. They easily could condense the 3 bonus DVD's to a single blu-ray.

Knowing Warner I would expect an announcement within the next 3 months.

Has anyone got the 4k Steelbook collection, how is it?

Currently £99.99 on Zavvi, is that the cheapest place right now?

When I bought Kong: Skull Island on Blu-Ray a few years ago, it came in a 4K case, but inside was the 1080p disc and the DVD. I also remember someone on a forum I used to be on getting their copy of Doctor Who: Series 10, Part 2 in a 4K case. It's all very strange.

Since this is a trilogy set it will never stop coming with a slipcase right?

I was hoping to buy this a few months later.

After all the negative reviews on here of the 4K sets of The Lord Rings Trilogy & The Hobbit Trilogy I'm glad I bought these . Think they look better than they ever have . I'll just keep my old BluRay box sets for the extras , feel no need to rebuy them after these .

Will the additional extras next year follow the standalone 1080p release?

Finally was able to find this at a local walmart. While not reference quality the movies look and sound really good. My only gripe is with the case. Inside the slipcover is a blue blu ray 9 disc case which does not hold the discs where they should very well. Im not even sure why they included the theatrical discs in this set. Who honestly wants those?

Picked this set up for three bucks at a local Goodwill, and I think it is fine. I already had the original Blu-ray theatrical, but I wanted to see what the extended version looked like. I like the case and I like the theatrical discs in the set. But then again, it only cost me three bucks.

They're almost exhaustive in terms of how they designed and built everything but very little time is spent focusing on how Peter Jackson DIRECTED these masterpieces: even the director's commentary talks much more about Tolkien than Jackson! The appendices for his "Lovely Bones" movie focused much more on how he is on the set of that movie. It would be great to have a similar look at how Lord of the Rings was shot.

So will the upcoming new releases with the 4K remasters be better than the old release or not?

Wait, I am a bit confused. A new 4K set will be released later this year and is up for pre-order on several websites. The set looks exactly like a previously released 4K set. What is the difference? Is this just a re-release to meet high demand? Was there something wrong with the old release? Or are these pre-orders a mistake by the webshops?

I hope it's a restock or re-release. Out of stock everywhere.

Is the Middle Earth set delayed? I see no announcement about it and we are a month from June.

Re: the new Blus coming - anyone's guess. As I've said before, if it's the seemingly typical HDR to SDR conversion process (especially with Warner), these will likely look different but not necessarily better in all areas compared to the prior discs.

Have we ever gotten any more info about this supreme collection with remastered Blu-ray's and new features? I remember it was supposed to come this summer.

I keep wondering this myself, but I also figure the announcement uproar will be so loud that there's no way I could miss it. Hopefully.
