What doesn't help in this thread is that people are consistently looking at side-by-side, static screencaps. When you are watching the picture continuously moving (aka watching the movie ) - and without constantly comparing the picture to another source - any colour timing differences will probably be barely noticeable.

I suppose it depends on how you define 'strong' I guess. For me, the first screencap has a 'strong' green tint' because the sky is quite clearly tinted green. Perhaps that shot seems to have a 'weak' tint to you but not to me.

Other screencaps appear to have a weaker tint of green but that's only because that tint is over different colours that show up the green tint less. Anything that is meant to be white will be show up the green tint most strongly, like snow, skies, fade to whites etc.

So.
As i said a couple of posts ago, i don't have the box in my hand .. i will have it in a week maximum. The discs are from internet (one who actually have it put it there) and have a total of 204 GB.
It's hard to believe that the product that i will receive in a couple of days will be different.
The screenshots can be taken as legit because i have a copy of the discs and i can make any screenshot anytime.
That greenish look is just in SOME scenes. As i said .. don't worry. You will be pleased by this.

As for the video i mention. Here is from me :

and here is the original leaked from youtube :

From my point of view the one leaked already is VERY green in comparison with my actual findings.

Long story short ... has some scenes with a little greenish look but there are a lot more that are perfect. You will love the movie, the picture quality and the audio.

How many here are even looking at these screen caps with proper color temperature set on their computer monitors? Your monitor needs to be set at 6500 degrees kelvin or you're doing it wrong.

I'll bet more than half of you have them set at 9300 degrees, which will make blues much bluer.

That is true. The problem is for those of us that know what to look for, it bugs us. Most people i'm sure will be very happy with this release regardless, the detail is fantastic.

Dude, your video is messed up. Can't say exactly what is causing it without knowing your capture & encoding process, but something went wrong somewhere along the way.

Sorry to disagree, but I still see the green/cyan tint in many scenes. This one being among the worst of them:

http://www.imagebam.com/image/dd344c136706458

However, there is mounting evidence that the DVD releases had this green/cyan tint. That, in fact, the removal of the green/cyan tint in the theatrical Blu-rays was where the mistake was made.

Why are people debating? Everyone is going to buy these blurays regardless or not if a green hue exists.

In short, it doesn't match the Blu-ray. Left side of the earlier split-screen YT video matches the Blu-ray played on PowerDVD 11 exactly, whereas your video does not. Contrast is too high, blacks are getting crushed and colors are too saturated.

I'm pretty sure i've seen comparisons showing exactly that scene you've posted between the the fotr extended edition blu-ray and the fotr extended edition dvd and they were not the same, the snow was quite clearly white on the dvd. Its either here or on AVSforum, can't remember which. Going to check my dvds now to confirm...

EDIT:

Okay, just checked. The snow is definately white on the fotr extended edition dvd.

I used a program for capturing the video. I don't see so much differences.
It doesn't matter. I think i helped some people with that video and those screenshots. They now know it will be.

PS: I just watched some scenes from my EE DVD and the there is far more less green tint, but the EE Blu-ray is far superior in PQ. This aspect will not be important. I assure you. When you will watch the movie you will not notice the color tins. This is the vision of the director.

This debate is going off course. I did my part .. i hope i helped some people. I leave you now to debate if you want, but the last thing i tell you .. YOU WILL LOVE THE EE BLURAY !!!

Cheers for all those screencaps! We won't know for certain about the green tint business until the official screencaps come out and everybody starts receiving their copies but much appreciated regardless.

Greetings,

I received the set from Warner yesterday. From what I have seen thus far I see no cause for concern.

point to compare it too. I was not bothered by any cyan/green tint at
all. If it was present I was not distracted.
