I should re qualify myself - as some people clearly are not understanding my message. Yes in some places there is a VERY clear colour change. It is NOT everywhere. And I am saying that I like the colour changes and the look of the entire presentation, That's all. It seems clear to me that the blue green tint is added in key scenes to set a cold mood...and I could be wrong? I can't say conclusively, but I can say it looks great. Don't forget this is a fantasy world people, and the white balance is not essential - most film makers like to massively alter the palette.

Why is it that us "naysayers" are the ones that have to watch the disc when the rest have all decided that it's going to be "awesome" no matter what.

And you are perfectly entitled to your opinion, but there was no need to slight those who disagree with you in the process or calling them "troll-like persons with nothing better to do than worry".

That childish and smug animosity is completely out of place.

You could have chosen a different way to say the same ("even the most skeptic here will be pleased" or something along those lines), but you and some others here seem to be so arrogant or so insecure (or, most likely, both) that can not simply have your say without mocking and diminish anybody who disagrees with you.

Eh, every one of these threads eventually gets here. Apparently there was nothing wrong with the theatrical cut either, if you just bought it and watched it rather than pixel peeped screen captures... which makes me wonder why there's such a big improvement this time around

No prob, I'm just glad it hasn't been beaten with a DNR stick, I'll post back after I've seen it up close and personal.

No I was making the point that MANY have jumped on the assumptive bandwagon without seeing the article and that behaviour IS troll-like. I apologised for my antagonistic wording 2 pages ago.

I'm a bit concerned that a panic wave hit the net and I think it will calm a (a little) when people see the presentation. So once again, apologies for any misunderstanding. If peopel have seen it and disagree, I amn saying that's fine. That then boils down to taste.

I am HIGHLY sceptical that this is a flaw/mistake.

The theatrical release was very good - the review on bluray.com talks about the smaller issues in detail. It also deals with the new remastered version in a way I haven't the time or ability.

But I would say the pic is sharper and the colours deeper perhaps, not to mention occasionally a very different hue!

Besides, the screenshots are taken directly from the disc, not from my display, and show the tint as it appears.

That said, the green tint, while there throughout the film, is not nearly as obvious when the film is in motion as it is in screenshots. That doesn't mean it isn't as green or cyan on the screen, just that when watching a film in motion without points of reference (screenshot comparisons, true whites, etc) it isn't as apparent. Blues look fairly blue, whites look fairly white, and it only makes itself known during key scenes. (Even though it's there throughout.)

For those who can't see the tint, go to one of the questionable scenes and bring up your PS3 menus/icons, which feature pure white text and symbols. The difference between the whites on the PS3 overlays and the greenish-tinted whites of the film suddenly become all too obvious. Even when you can't see it as easily when the film is playing, it's easier to see when compared to something that is a truer white. Unfortunately, once you see the tint, it's difficult to unsee it afterwards. Proceed with caution

On a separate note, has anyone found a single pixel of pure white in the many, many screenshots posted? I've been scanning with photoshop, and I can't find a single pixel in a single shot that's pure white. (Even the elvish subtitles have a tint to them. Check 1:35:47 when Arwen is speaking.) Still, it has to be said that Jackson may have intentionally applied a tint to the entire film and eliminated all pure white in FOTR, no matter how often pure or near-pure white appears in TTT and ROTK.

Hope all of that helps clarify some of the questions that have been posted lately
I believe this guy.

The fellowship theatrical blu ray was anything but good.

Personally I would urge you to simply believe your own eyes and mind when you watch it. You may still hate it though...

Keep the "reviews" coming (once you get the disks).

I'm very interested in hearing from the owners once they get them.

I'm back on the fence. No, it's not the "green" issue. It's the $$$. I bought the TE DVD's, then 3 months later the EE DVD's for each movie. Then I bought TE Blu's and all these for a good amount of $$$.

I am leaning on watching my TE blu-rays (yes, FOTR isn't that great on the TE) and buying these on BF.

That said, I keep watching the price drop - 69.99 at BB and I might be able to use the $5 coupon.... decisions, decisions.

Hmmm, this is the sort of drivel that makes you shake your head in dismay. The reviewer accepts the look and feel of the new colorization. I do too.

Got it?
So do I,more or less.
But as other have stated you you are not entitled to give other people ''instructions'' whether to bye,or not.

Its was certainly watchable (on a 42" TV).

When I got the TE (day of the release last year) I watched it closely. I certainly understood the complaints. That said, at times it looked good (not great) but better than the DVD (yes disappointing).

Glad they remastered it to correct the issues.

I don't intend to give instructions to anybody here, but it is not nice to turn a posting board thread into a chat-room.

I think it's funny that some people say the green tint makes it seem like more of a fantasy film instead of real world, but the same people say that The Council of Elrond looks more real now, instead of with the warm color it used to have.

I would say that it looks great, and buy with confidence that it's not an error.

However you may not like the change.

That is not an order, just an opinion.

Good. And what are your thoughts then? Did you hate it or like it...or neither?

If you want your money back complain to Warner, send it back. You're more likely to get somewhere with a refund than putting messages on here aren't you??
