The reviews show that 2/3 of the films look outstanding. It's worth it, in my opinion.

Just out of curiosity did we ever hear anything more from fat boy Knowles’s promises via twitter to contact the now ex-fat boy Jackson (sorry I mean the new and improved svelte Jackson ) regarding The Fellowships new color scheme.
It’s been such a long time ago I’m now starting to wonder if I dreamt that whole weird incident up. |

Merrick, Add Nate Boss and kingkong650 to those who feel the tint is an error as well. Last edited by Todd Smith; 06-27-2011 at 06:41 PM. |

This is the thread I'm going to...this is ultra good news and since I'll have my LOTR EE tomorrow, I'll he enjoying them. It's a huge week for Blu-ray and the biggest year for the format.

"The random darkness of the film also got to me, especially when Gandalf first knocks on Bilbo's door, as that shot looks the same on this release as it would if you watched the Theatrical Blu-ray wearing sunglasses, and that isn't even an exaggeration."
I've always loved how warm, bright, and inviting that scene looked. ![]() |

There will always be at a cheaper price. I would not be surprised at all to see them get down in the $30s for a one day sale or gold box deal.

I will definitely wait for a response by PJ before purchasing
But everything does point towards intentional with the guy over at imdb saying it looked like this at the theaters incl. the infamous green tint 2nd breakfast scene(that scene looks bad IMO) And now the trailer at the official site also showing the new tint color grading But i still want a clear confirmation by PJ before purchasing ![]() |

If the simple *adding of green* to normally exposed scenes, (such as, when intended by increasing the green channel gain during realtime color correction) disproportionately compared to that of R and B channels, creates a contrast (or difference) between all the colors in the image, then it will add perceived detail. On the other hand, if the *adding of green* tends to make all the other colors blend into each other more, it will be perceived as having less detail than if the digital colorist had the red, green and blue waveforms more balanced or equal. In other words, without selective use of other controls, getting a ‘blanket application of a mild hue of any mid-tone color’ will result in you getting *lucky* with the outcome of some scenes and other scenes, not. I am not surprised by the percentages listed by the AVS member who has viewed the Blu-ray disc…and no, the observation still doesn’t definitively answer the question as to whether the constant *greenness* in this particular movie was filmmaker intended or operator error. |

I just got my set thanks to a friend at a local retailer!
I popped it in at lunch and turned to a few of the scenes mentioned. I have to disagree that it looks 'wrong'. The image really pops and I can't wait to find the time to watch them entirely. I don't notice a green hue as some of the screenshots I have seen suggested. The color palette seems to be as I would have expected and the detail increased. I am using a 50" Pioneer that has been calibrated in the last few months if that makes a difference. Last edited by TheZoof; 06-27-2011 at 07:11 PM. |
