"Bad transfers" implies that all three look bad.

The PQ on the EE's is far superior to the TE, especially on FOTR.

Well when someone says "Nope, they're awesome, worth every penny!" it might also be worth noting "except the first and arguably most important movie in the series which looks terrible". I would be mighty disappointed if I bought it based on someone's "all clear" and then took FOTR TE out of it's prom dress to find some A-cups.

I love the way FotR looks, so you'd see me saying that all three look awesome. I know the green tint is there and it doesn't bother me.

Agreed. I'm actually kind of glad they tweaked the color like that. It was so washed out in the theatrical.

Theatrical Editions.

The poster was asking about the TEs, the reply was that they were "worth every penny". I disagree because FOTR looks like shit.

I agree that the EEs are worth the money but I think it's misleading not to mention FOTR TE looking like shit.

Damn. This thread was all about the green tint that I thought the poster was asking about the EEs. My mistake.

I'll believe that when I see it with my own eyes. There's been so, so, so many people proven to be totally incompetent when it comes to seeing this issue that I really won't trust some random dude on Amazon, regardless of how legit he sounds. I need to see trusted screencaps, or official confirmation from a source that has some ties to the release.

I really doubt it's been fixed, I suspect it's just people who are incapable of telling the difference, as usual. Call me a cynic but hey, I've dealt with enough of the "MY version" people in this thread to know better.

Really? He heard wrong that theatrical FOTR looks like shit??

I agree with you, but the difference here is that this guy is supposedly doing an A/B comparison with an earlier release vs a more recently purchased copy and supposedly no more green tint.

Like you though, I need proof

No worries. It probably didn't need to be enlarged so much but I am one who enjoys "theatrics"... ok, pun intended.

Yeah I know, I just think it's more likely someone just wanting to see what they want to see, or even worse just an "I don't see/don't care about green tint" guy trolling to get people to spend even more cash on the same sets than it is that WB did a ninja fix on this.

I would even forgive them for doing a ninja fix and not telling anyone, not offering an exchange program, and making me pay full price, just to have an untainted set of arguably my favorite series of films.

I honestly don't have a problem with Fellowship's new look until an Elvish subtitle pops up. If they could fix that, I'd be completely fine with it.

But, it is distracting considering the subtitles in the last two films are white.

There was one scene in Lothlorien where the background was white and made it hard to read the sub.

Another one I recall was in Osgilliath where the background is very grey and white that was difficult to read.

For my tastes, the Dream Theater blu-ray is ridiculously good!
Well, my guess would be that it is "monkey shines". But if (and this is a big IF) the speculation of the posters in *another* forum are correct, and a non-tinted, non-darkened, and potentially further extended EE of Fellowship IS in the works (to be released with the Hobbit movies?), WB will certainly get my cash. I wish they "could have got it right the first time", but better late than never. If additional scenes are included, I hope they actually address the story. Battles, skull avalanches, and people crying scenes have been adequately addressed; and we don't need to see Arwen making soup - Eowyn has that covered.

OFF TOPIC

I also got the Dream Theater BD and agree it is ridiculously good, along with my Christmas haul "Kansas - There's No Place Like Home" and "Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake" (Valery Gergiev, Uliana Lopatkina, Danila Korsuntsev, et al.).

Thank you guys. I will be getting the EE the first chance I get. I am a fan of all 3 films and have seen them numerous times. So, I really just want to see them in the best transfer thats available since content wise, I probably know every inch of those movies. Cheers!

Is there a rumor that Fellowship is going to be extended even further? Is there any more they could've put in besides Tom Bombadil?

There are rumors on other sites, but I wouldn't believe any of them more than I believe a non-tinted, non-darkened EE version of Fellowship is in the works (as some poster on Amazon indicated). I don't think Jackson has any intention of revisiting LotR, as he is busy with more important matters.

Are there rumors on other sites? Which other sites?

If you're talking about the single discussion over at AVS (not really sure why some people are being so cryptic and weird about referencing the forum by name) based on that Amazon review that's obviously completely false. The dude wasn't claiming to have any insider information about a longer version in the works, he claims he has already seen longer versions of all three movies broadcast on the Starz network over Thanksgiving (there was an actual LotR marathon).

I didn't watch the marathon personally, but considering he's the only person on Earth that claims these were extended over the current extended editions it obviously isn't true. There are die hard LotR fans that pore over every bit of info on the internet about LotR/hobbit developments and that one Amazon reviewer is the only mention of such a thing. Peter Jackson can't fart without it being discussed endlessly. His claim of having a "new" version with no green tint has been proven untrue as well - people with copies purchased more than a month after he posted those comments have screencapped their new versions and have confirmed the Fellowship has remained 100% unchanged.

+1 and that should be the end of it.
