I bought the box set from Amazon when it was on sale for $49.99, and when I checked out their check-out system deducted another $10 off automatically for some reason - to this day I haven't been able to figure out why... I had no balance or points or gift card or anything in my account, so it didn't come from there... so mysteriously, I got it for $39.99...

Sometimes when you get a promotional credit or something from Amazon, it doesn't show up in your gift card balance, but only shows up when you go to check out an order. Now why they applied it I don't know... from buying a video game from Amazon that had a $10 amazon promo or something? Couldn't say, but, just thought I'd bring up a possibility for ya

Did you open up an Amazon storecard? I know they take $10 off your first purchase. Or it could have been promotional credit that you didn't realize you had like mzupeman said

No, I don't have an Amazon Storecard, and I didn't have my Amazon Visa at that time yet... and I didn't buy any games, either... so I don't know where it came from, but evidently it was a promotional thing of some kind...

Oh well - I'm not compaining!

I'll probably just end up holding off until Black Friday like I originally planned. Whether the individual movies will end up going on sale or the box set does, I'll win either way.

Does the price tracker track Black Friday prices? Because I know it was at that price on Amazon during that week cause I bought it then.

No it's not. You can buy it for less than $60. THAT is the criteria. Whether you shop regularly enough at Costco to merit the membership fee or not is besides the point.

Besides, it's been stated that WB Shop is offering it at below $60 with free shipping now as well. And you don't need a paid membership to buy from there. So, it's available for less than $60. It's almost always available for less than $60 SOMEWHERE is what I said. I stick by that statement.

Be careful wormraper... there is an argument working against us on that one...

If these people don't accept the truth of the matter soon, I'll be forced to start bragging about the price here in Canada!

oooooooooo, I seeeeee

but a little known fact. Bestbuy will actually price match movies and electronics at costco. tried it at quite a few best buys over the years. I found that out when I was looking over a bb associates shoulder when they were typing in a price match to another store and saw Costco on the list of price match options

HA! So they can all read it and weep!

Best Buy will ALWAYS have this set at $49.99 so long as they have it in stock.

Once again, how many people are going to know about the WB shop? I added a qualifier posts back, which you may have missed. I know reading is hard, so I'll restate it here: how many average buyers will be aware?

As for your hilarious Costco evidence, when you factor in the cost of a subscription to shop there, it's over $60. As for BB price matching, how many average buyers are aware they'll match Costco? The member you quoted with a high school-ish high five said it was a little known fact. The evidence is against you. But you seem to be well versed in the school of retail, so perhaps you can enlighten me.

I'd love it if you'd stop denigrating people who aren't in the know like we are here on the forum. It's incredibly insulting and pretentious.

In the words of the late Aaliyah, dust yourself off and try again.

edit: Your claim that it can be found for less than $60 is irrelevant if people aren't aware of it.

The percentage is puny at best of people that purchase ODs at WB or Costco. We already know that the majority of ODs sold in the US are bought at Wal-Mart, Amazon, Target, and Best Buy.

I'm not denigrating anyone. I'm just saying that if people are wanting this set for less than $60, the option exists. And, if they want it that badly they should be able to find it at any given time for such a price. Sure, they won't find it by happenstance, but if they want it, a simple google search can go a long way.

I don't understand why my logical assessment of this situation has you spinning my intentions into insults as if I was calling everyone idiots or something. Sounds like you have a personal issue with me that goes beyond the topic at hand.
