by the way, has anyone compared the DNRd scenes from the other two movies to these rips? Are those still there?

This is why there is backbiting. There's so much outrage over a handful of screenshots that people are irrationally trying to attribute the problems they see to the entire transfer. Has it occurred to many of you that the scenes the screens are from may look much better in motion?
Color isn't the same thing as DNR or EE. Color doesn't necessarily "look better in motion." Also, it is not an argument about the color. It is an argument about the drastic change in color. When the theatrical, DVD, and first Blu all have one color balance and this one is strikingly different, it looks like a mistake (just like The French Connection). Half-Blood Prince always looked like that, from previews through every release.

I'm calling you out on that snow mountain screenshot because you said the pic on the right looked better than the one on the left, color-wise. You are definitely wrong. The right may have more detail but in terms of color, it is inferior and looks like the film is degrading.

I understand that people are getting bothered over unproven screenshots, and I agree with you that the rhetoric needs to be toned down some. Fact of the matter is, these films are beloved modern classics. People want to buy them and not feel like they got screwed in the deal.

So, because it has become very common in Hollywood nowadays to have almost every single film awash in the color teal, then it makes it alright to start doing that to older releases that never even had this now way overused coloring fad?

Remember, fads get real boring very quickly.

This is irrelevant to my argument. I was responding to the outrage that the color of snow isn't being accurately represented.

I'm going to go ahead and laugh at me being wrong about how the image is more aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. I had no idea I was being objective.

Would you be so kind as to get back to me when you find a post I made where I make such a claim?

those comparisons look amazingly clear! If those first grabs really are of the first blu ray theatrical cuts and the highlighted ones are of the new extended blus then I would say this is a monumental improvement. Just because the snow isn't what you think it should look like on the grabs doesn't mean thats how your home theater, personal settings, are going display the same scene.

Who's to say that the guy's computer monitor wasn't adjusted properly, and that he compensated by adjusting the color of the movie, just like some of the examples people have posted of "fixed" screenshots?
Great points. I am still hoping these shots are bogus as far as the Matrix thing going on.

It's not irrelevant. I mentioned that the argument is not the color, it is the drastic change of the color from the way the film had always been represented. The initial release of Gladiator suffered from the same problems. Half-Blood Prince always had the same look. Fight Club is always dark. Wizard of Oz has very saturated colors. It's the look of those films. It's expected. A sudden harsh teal tint soils the beautiful photography of the film.

It is not meant to look that way.

If you honestly saw both of those photos on sale, you would buy the one with off color-balance, especially when all the previous prints of that photograph had brilliant white snow?

Am I the only one who thinks all three of these movies have always been ugly? I've hated the cinematography and color timing since day 1.

Not Complaining..

Since the EE will have 2-disc. I was wondering. I will be using my ps3 to watch these. Whenever I finish playing a movie/game. I always go to the menu screen, then hit the ps button. Then I click on, go to XMB and then eject.

Since it will be on 2-disc. Whenever it says switch to disc 2. How will that actually work? Can I just eject the disc from there and then insert the other disc. Or would it be better to do the same thing that I always do(ps button, go to XMB,then eject)?

I just want to make sure, I dont damage my ps3.

Actually, I want to get both sides covered. What about a stand alone player?

Just push the eject button on the PS3. You're not going to damage it

I always go back to the XMB before ejecting discs. I don't think that it will really make a difference in the long run. And, this release will not make any difference for me.

For me it will always be: Exit to XMB, switch discs, load disc 2 from the XMB.

Hitting the Eject button will have no ill affect whatsoever on your PS3, its just like hitting eject on any other BD player/DVD player. Infact on some releases, such as Alien Anthology, it's quicker, as if you eject the film and insert the next disc the film starts straight away without having to go through all the menus and other legal warnings and whatever else they spam the disc with.

I'm guessing the EE will be the same, get to the point you need to switch, just hit eject insert disc 2 and instantly start where the scene left off.

Those are not converted to PC levels properly, they're 16-235. Also the original disc doesn't have those aliasing artifacts.
Looks like a big improvement resolution-wise.

I'm not judging the final release, I'm judging the pics in the comparisons, and the diffrence is night and day! No doubt the second image is way clearer and sharper than the first.
