But, in my opinion, I believe the bluray would have made for a far superior experience : thus I'm all for a bluray exhibition but of course a DVD is no where near high enough resolution at that size. Nothing beats a properly handled original print though. Just my 2 cents.
Honestly, if I know the source is going to be a DVD, I'm not going. Although I understand this was for your class

I just can't imagine DVD looking good on a screen that size; it doesn't even look good on my 46" let alone something 20 feet wide.

Ugh, that video sample of FotR is a revelation. I have a feeling I'm going to return to a habit I developed in late 2002 of watching this film over and over again.

I tried to download it, and then cancelled. Now it's telling me that I have to wait 600 seconds to download. What does it look like? Some of the newer screenshots look a little more promising than some of the earlier ones posted.

It's certainly better than the TE, still not the best Blu I've ever seen but it's more than caught up with the other two in the trilogy at this point, thank goodness.

And the green thing is something people are freaking out way too much about at this point; I thought it looked fine and nothing struck me as being "unusual" about it except its extremely high PQ.

Also, the most wonderful thing about the samples for TTT and RotK is the complete lack of DNR that plagued the theatrical cuts.

Thanks guys! I'm starting to feel a little better about this now. Some of the newer screencaps have so much more detail. From what I remember, they look even better than they originally did in the theater. I really can't wait until we get some official reviews on this.

Default Just saw Fellowship Extended on BLURAY

It's 20 minutes LONGER than its DVD counterpart
And no worries, it has the same long end titles. The movie has more scenes and extended dialogue for Aragorn. One scene that caught my eye that I'm sure I have not seen before was when he gets a blade and information about the Uruk-Hai when they are at the elves. And the blade he gets will "increase his speed over long distances"

The scene where Aragorn gets the blade was always in the EE but not that new info about it increasing his speed. Very interesting. I wonder if there are substantial additions if Howard Shore composed any new music for this release?

You weren't watching a PAL DVD before, I'm assuming?
