Default Harry Knowles is on the case to Peter Jackson

Just posted this in AVS as well, but thought you guys would like to hear.

Tweeted Knowles, he emailed PJ. We will see what happens.

It's warner! They are interested in money, not in fans of lotr. I will not buy a "Ultimate Edition", it's enough after the EEs.

The problem is that the outrage here is far, far more vocal, which is understandable if wants the perfect preciouses.

Good logical post! That's how it appears to me too. At times, tints can be beneficial as they create certain moods, but if they are applied "globally" there are always scenes that look off. The fact that the LOTR has had always various tints applied to certain scenes for effect was shown in the extras on the DVDs, so I don't minds tints; I do mind a one-size-fits-all approach to color. (For the record, I do like the color in many of the screenshots posted better than the theatrical versions, just not all of them.)

I dont know what scarier...the fact that so many movies are applying this green tint, or that I have some of those movies pictured (on BD) and didn't even pick up on any new colour grading when watching them. I guess the studios are just thinking that the majority of the public won't pick up on it either. Saying that...it's hard to defend green snow! (which I haven't seen a screencap of yet, so if anyone's got a link...)

Ask him , he's a nice guy. Why go thru any intermediary if he will take your question.

It may take a little while but, if you desire direct access, Peter J. answers questions here –http://www.facebook.com/PeterJacksonNZ

Or, for those who have contacts at Technicolor in town, Peter Doyle (http://articles.latimes.com/2003/feb...ent/ca-smith16)
now works there (at TCS).

I heard that Peter Jackson might consider touching up the special effects in the LOTR trilogy once the Hobbit films are released on home video. If that's the case, I think that gives me further reason to hold back on this set...

You'll be waiting at least three years and you can expect the set to be at least $100 on Amazon if The Hobbit is included.

I find it rather funny that people are contacting WB or PJ about color timings on an as of this moment, unreleased product that hasn't made its way into legit reviewers hands, and expecting any type of changes to come of it.

If one gets a response at this point in time it'll probably be from the legal department wanting to know where you acquired their product so early.

Lucky you, in germany it is 80 €/$114 on Amazon for the Extended Box at the moment. I hope it will be cheaper when the release comes.

Would they be okay with this if it was a brown tint? How about pink, or purple?
I honestly just don't understand how anyone would want green snow and skies, and sickly looking skin tones.

There's no way they'll have time to fix the supposed problems before the 28th.

Correct, but there is no way WB is going to come out and acknowledge a problem on a product isn't even released yet.
If legit reviewers were the ones posting these screenshots, and making the issues known -- we may get some type of response; but were not getting them from legit sources.

Again, the only realistic response one should expect to see is one from the legal department.

I know you shouldn't have to, but is this green tint adjustable, at the tv color settings level? I mean, could you just turn down your green, and make it look good? Or would that throw off other colors? Again, we shouldn't even have to consider something like this... make a color adjusted tv Harmony activity (watch GREEN blu ray)
