No, because all you'll do is whinge like a little baby, and this thread has enough of it. The fact of the matter is that if you saw that video without knowing about the comparison ahead of time, you wouldn't be crying.

What I find absolutely hilarious is that some opinions would change if Peter J authorized this. BUT, IT'S DIFFERENT!

I wouldn't be happy because I would prefer the original color scheme, but complaining about it would be pointless, wouldn't it? It would shut me up which for some of you would probably be a relief.

All right. I am off for real now.

This. The reaction is a result of prior knowledge. If everyone was saying how great this release looked this poster would have reacted the exact opposite. Public opinion is a funny thing. Most people seem to be freaking out becase its different to what it was originally like. This whole things is people ridiculous OCD flairing up. Well, to that I say get over it. This may well be a decision of Jackson's and until we know there is no use freaking out. Until we no more take a deep breath and worry about more important things.

Awesome mature post

My opinion would not change, my tollerance of the issue would if it somehow comes to light that this is a PJ approved change. Either way, I dont like it.

If you feel up to it at some point, I would be curious to see the mountain pass in motion and if not that is fine as well.

I will also say once again that if you are truly 100% happy with FOTG, why do you care so much about those of us who dont like the green? If I was in your shoes, I would just go and enjoy the film!

Because you and your spoiled whinging brothers are cluttering up a thread with nothing but complaints. I've seen a boatload of posts that praise the transfer from looking at samples and screenshots, only to be responded to with posts like "You're wrong. This looks better!". Go create a usergroup called "We think blue is green on Fellowship of the Ring." Jesus Christ. I have more fun arguing with creationists that you whiny fanboys.

PLEASE! Give me a break..........Everyone is saying "how great" TT and ROTK look and guess what.........I AGREE! Show me one negative I have said about either of those! They both look awesome in every way, shape and form to my eyes and I have said so and agreed with the choir! So there goes that theory

This may or may not be a PJ decision, but until we know the debate will go on I am sure. All things considered, I would be very surprised if this turned out to be a PJ decision, but stranger things have happened and time will tell.

Can you read? I was obviously talking about Fellowship, which was the context of our recent exchange of words.

Then quit wasting your time on here brother. If you are happy, then go enjoy! The other side of the coin is some of you guys would defend this transfer to the death just like in the TE thread and how did that turn out? Wow, we have a MUCH better transfer now as far as detail so if anything you should be thanking us "whinging" fellow bluray.com guys since a big part of why we are getting detail back is due to all the people who were able to be subjective instead of subjecting themselves to blind fanboy rage which is how your posts come off!

Go enjoy the films and let us miserable unhappy FOTG guys try to get to the bottom of it!

I just watched the scene everyone is so up in arms about......and I still don't gte that the big ****ing deal is. It looks fantastic. Christina Hendricks could **** blu-ray.com forum members until they bled and they'd still complain about the scratch marks on their backs.

P.S. Guess what? I'm watching the shitty digital copy of FOTR on iTunes and I STILL see a green tint. Not as pronounced as these screenshots would suggest but it is there. What was that about re-writing history?

For those of you who can't swallow the green, you'll choke when you see Saruman's beard (hair in general).

Has anyone even stopped for a moment to consider that maybe this aqua tint is what the original negative looks like? Films from ten years ago do tend to have a more washed out color timing on DVD because it is a lossy format. Maybe I'm just crazy and don't know what I'm talking about though, after all, I've been re-writing history this whole time

In any case, I prefer the new color timing. Everything pops out more and looks better & more consistent than the color timing than previous releases. I like it, I think it looks fantastic. The end. I'm so done with this thread because honestly, this is absurd. I'm off to Europe tomorrow and this box set will arrive on my door the day I come back, and I'll watch the blu-rays and enjoy the new gorgeous transfers immensely. Peace out.

Heh. Any chance you could post a couple screenshots? Also, when did you download it?

Let's take Galadriel for a quick sec. I considered that maybe this was indeed the case where we are seeing the "actual" look of the film. Wellll, not that it is suggested, but I always comsidered her to have an angelic sort of look. Now, whatever "divinity" she had about her, suddenly looks very human. I don't know, this just happened to be the first thing that came to mind when I saw her screenshots.

@headgeek666 "Ok folks, Peter Jackson is contacting Andrew Lesnie re: the Green tint issues allegedly with the FOTR:EE Blu... Hopefully this is fixed."

That's the word from Harry Knowles.

Have you ever seen any of the documentaries on the original EE? They have a specific part where they show that certain scenes were color graded certain ways. Some scenes had a green tint. Some scenes had a blue tint. Some scenes had a red tint. The problem with the new release is that it uses a green tint throughout.

Are you trying to tell me Jackson always intended a fade to lime green as opposed to a fade to white?

Even most fans of the green acknowledge that the green tint is a not how it was originally portrayed theatrically or in the DVDs or in the theatrical editions of the Blu Rays. The master that was used for the DVDs came from an HD master designed, among other things, for ARCHIVAL purposes. To preserve what the filmmaker originally intended to be seen.

But I guess we should just ignore all the physical proof we have, and the words of people who worked on the original DVDs, and instead trust your memory. It’s okay to like the new green push, but stop saying that what we are seeing now has always been that way. That is rewriting history.

That is definitely possible. But, like previously stated, Peter Jackson color graded practically the entire film to evoke a certain mood or aesthetic. The original cinematography won an Academy Award. It just boggles my mind that they wouldn't try to give us that in high definition. Was there really anyone BEFORE they saw the new EE Blu Ray of Fellowship who was clamoring for more green to be added to the film?

And you believe him. Good god man you are up in arms about nothing here, there is so little green tint you hardly see it. You guys that complain makes it sound like it is in ALL the scenes while it is in so few. Why didn't you complain about Gladiator remaster for the color issue it was worse yet the remaster got glowing reviews. And this will as well. And all you nitpickers will just stand there like fools. Because there is nothing wrong with them.

The PQ is incredible. PJ is gonna say the same thing.
