Come on everyone, one way or the other, there's nothing we can do about it. This thread has become kind of a battleground of sorts.

I just read this on avs by adrift:

" If what we're seeing with the green tint is a leaked copy and not coming from the official release I can see a number of ways that that could happen. When Wolverine was leaked on the internet a few years ago a lot of the post-production wasn't even finished and the film was missing all kinds of FX. "

I hadn't thought of that. Maybe the reason it's so darkly contrasted and green, is because this was leaked before the final product was finished and approved. Boy I sure hope so!

There is certainly nothing you can do by discussing it on a forum that nobody will read.

Would WB read this though?

Oh yes, beleive me he does. He has made that very clear. Several people love the super dark contrast and green tint. Not me though.

Several people who have (or claim to have) the retail product have confirmed the colour timing.

That's possible. The rumours only say peter jackson has agreed to the color changes, not to a green tint.

If it's leaked, its probably not the final release. A few months ago, a alpha version of the game "Crysis 2" was leaked. A lot of effects were missing in this release and it wasn't stable. Something similar could happen to a blu-ray leak of Lotr. So we should wait for the moment, when we all got the box in our hands.

Of course only if the screens came from a leak.

I think it's a massive improvement. The TE looks terribly dull to me.

I'm seeing the EE tonight at the cinema and I'll report back if the new master for the BD is used. I'm crossing my fingers that it is.

How many people would cancel their pre-orders because of this apparent controversy?

Stupid forum software automatically embeds any YouTube content. Can't find a way to turn that off. Just copy and paste without the dash.

It's pretty amazing how much shadow detail is lost in the EE because of the contrast boost...focus on the legs of the horse for example.

Going by the youtube video i prefer the TE by far. The sign post should be white, the sky blue and clouds/gandalfs beard white not green.

Il wait for review but im hoping for a disc exchange asap.

I ain't. I agree with a couple other people when I say that I feel like the contrast is a bit of an improvement and that the colour changes can work sometimes. They don't bother me, really.

And if Jackson and Lesnie did want this, who I am to say otherwise?

Yeah, I'm getting this no matter what. I put off the TEs and this is what I'm gonna get. That's the end of it.

I got the TEs too for a pretty good price, and I far prefer the TE of ROTK, so no regrets here. My preorder is in for the EE's and it's staying.

Don't have to cancel mine, never made one.

I'm probably going to wait for individual releases as I'm in no mood to buy the boxset with all those DVDs with extra features that I already own. But I was also disappointed in the theatrical releases which I thought were pretty mediocre, so I'm definitely going to wait to read several reviews before deciding to buy.

That is very unlikely. It's not a "leak" in the sense that it came from WB way before the disc was completed. It's a couple weeks before street date, the discs are finished and are shipped to retailers, and that's where the pirates get em.
