I laughed at the post saying that the white screen when Frodo wakes up in Rivendell is "solid green." I didn't see "solid green" anywhere.

It's the WB release from Thailand, usually WB discs have tons of subs because they make one disc and distribute it worldwide. It's possible that some of those subtitles would appear or disappear depending upon your region.
Exactly.
E.g. greek subs are in the edition that is sold via amazon.it

Yeah, i'm almost certain that there will be Spanish and French subtitles on the US extended edition releases. The Spanish subtitles was one of the main reasons why I got the theatrical blu-rays from the US (as a Brit living in Spain, I like having spanish subtitles on all my blu-rays but the titles and everything else in English). If they don't have Spanish subtitles, neither would the UK release most likely and i'd be forced to buy the spanish release...

it's about as much as green as the color red is the color yellow. or blue is magenta.

Yes that would be very nice!

Luckily you can't add any green to Howard Shore's masterpiece of a film score.
I think we can all agree on that! The audio should be killer!! Cant wait to hear these tracks!

And also because Sir PJ supervised this release. So he like many others see nothing wrong with the release. I still think some people just like to complain.

But the TTT caps from capsoholic is bad compared to the TE. But then again i have seen 2 other sources were they show EE in TTT is also way better then the TE like FOTR and ROTK

like seen here they look absolutely marvelous in every movie

The differences in these two screenshots is absolutely stunning.

I may have to get this set after all, even though it seems to be a rather inconsistent remaster of the first film.

mredman's posts couldn't be more repetative if he was being paid to do so...

Which makes him asking why people keep posting complaints all the more hilarious and absurd.

This thread is becoming a frustrating battleground. I am actually at a loss at what to say really. I think both sides have a valid point in terms of whether it's actually worth getting, so I'd have to say it's up to us individually.

Agreed!

I posted this in the Best Buy exclusive thread in the Deals forum earlier this week, but I wasn't sure if anyone knew this:

I went to my local BB over the weekend (Daytona Beach) and they had the Pre-order rings set up on an end cap. I stopped to take a look and I noticed a sign next to them that said the prices for the sets were $69.99 for the regular extended edition and $99.99 for the Best Buy exclusive. However, it didn't say if those were the prices after you pay the $10 preorder. The store was pretty busy so I didn't bother asking an employee to verify (although I'm sure I wouldn't have gotten a definite answer anyway..). Just thought I'd pass this along!

Don't forget the BB -$5 coupon over in the hot deals area, five bucks off any blu-ray over $14.99. Expires 7/31/11. Personally I might wait for the $50-60 price range. The current price on amazon is way overpriced to me...

Oh goody! That means an Amazon price-match is almost certain!
