If he changed his mind about the coloring time once, who's to say he won't change his mind again for future releases.
I hear what you are saying and in general agree, but I just dont get why they would only make changes to FOTR and not the other 2 and when you look at the changes which are questionable in the minds of many to say the least I just dont know how much I can buy it honestly. It would not surprise me in the least if the 3rd release was also "redone" and Jackson "approved" and we had white snow and blue skies again. Time will tell.

It is what it is, but my opinion stands assuming the color timing change that Bill confirmed is the green tint issue we have all been looking at for the past few days or so. It is ugly IMO and I MUCH preferred when snow was white, skies were blue, Gandalf was grey, fire did not have a green tint, etc........Hope to see that again in the next release.

Having said all that and no matter if I rent or end up buying these, I am still excited to see these films since I am actually more of an audio guy (believe it or not) than video and the audio should no question be fantastic! Also as far as video goes, TT and ROTK look to be fantastic all around from what I have seen with no major issues (such as green tint). Overall I am still very much looking forward to viewing these even if FOTR did not turn out as well as I had hoped (assuming this green issue is as bad as we have seen in these shots).

You said it not me, but I have to agree. What is the change? Why not some screencaps showing the change? Lots more info will come to light in the days leading up to this release and it should be interesting to say the least.

I am curious about this as well.......as soon as it opens, it would be great to ask some questions and get some more details on the color timing changes from Bills perspective.

Probably because he just reviewed LOTR, and would be bombarded with questions!

My other question is why did Jackson not do this "approved change" for the TE of FOTR when it hit blu ray? Why do it for just the EE? Jackson has been quoted as saying something to the fact of the TEs being his preferred versions so why not make this change to his favorite version of these films and only make it with the EEs?

I was just wondering if anyone knew if and/or when The Lords of the Rings trilogy Extended Editions would be released? Any chance of it happening in 2011?

Relax people! Bill Hunt's review has set my mind at ease, as I trust his professional opinion.

Possibly to give us a reason to buy a future "ultimate, director-approved remastered, super-duper edition" of the movies?

Never the less, I would've liked a little more information on the color changes that he mentions. I'm not sure if the review has really satiated any of my real concerns.

All valid points. Sooner or later more light will be shed, but I wouldn't expect anything till the hype of this release dies down.

I'm sorry, but you were already more than sold before any official review. You cannot possibly be more sold than you already were, else the world will collapse…

Umm, let's say he got them bright & early at 9AM. It would be 9PM tonite until he finished watching them all. He probably took notes while he was watching them alright - watching a few scene selections from each disc.

i had my doubts about the TTT as mentioned bythe capsoholics pics surfaced. Also found it strange that they were not so good as the other screencaps people has posted on TTT. But now with Bill's review i am more the stoked with this release as he says all of them look fantastic

Maybe he was just 'sitting on the fence' until he read the review.

I, too, find it odd that Hunt didn't mention anything specific about the color timing change. I hope Robert Harris is more forthcoming in his thoughts regarding the color timing change.

Interesting video posted over on AVS about the color grading on these films............

Check out the comparison shots starting at ~2:20......dont these ungraded images look familiar as far as what we are seeing with this EE FOTR blu ray? The shot at 2:40 is most revealing. Look at the "ungraded" sky in the shots at 2:28, 2:35 and 2:40........I dont know about you, but I sure like my skies blue which happens in the graded shots as opposed to the ungraded shots (which appear to have a green tint by chance). It sure seems to me that many of these "approved" shots are simply ungraded shots which screams lazyness as far as the new blu ray transfer. If I am reading/interpreting this wrong somebody explain it to me.

He's the only one listed, as of yet, on Cinemasquid...

... yet still hasn't posted a review.

Ok Todd why don't you hold your breath until PJ changes the color the way you like it! I for one after reading bill hunts review am sold on it. But of course you think Bill hunt is a sell out to WB, remember what you said about the TE review from Bill Hunt? You called him a sell out.

No comment............Not getting banned again. Shoot me a PM if you want my take/opinion.

I am just asking questions as far as the video goes and I am open to discuss it.......what is your take on it?

Am I correct in thinking that we are all judging this release on screen shots from a bootleg found on torrent sites? Common, those things are seriously downgraded.

How about we judge when screen shots from a good source come out...

Do you know if that's part of the bonus features found on the 9 DVDs?
