My thoughts exactly. Couldn't have said it more perfectly.

Whatever happened to just watching the damn movie?!!

Several of us have been saying this since the first screenshot popped up. They don't want to wait though.

Even when reviews from legit reviewers have starting coming in and saying they don't see a problem, they still keep on.

I have no problem coming back and saying, yep color is completely messed up, if that is indeed the case. But I want some actual, legit screenshots, taken from the actual, retail discs.

My problem with all of this is simple. I am not wealthy, I already own the TE blu-rays, and was planning on selling them and putting the money towards the EE blu-rays. These are my favorite movies, and I was very exited to get the EE which I much prefer. If I buy this, then I am stuck with it, because pretty much no stores will let you return an opened item, except for the exact same thing. That is what has me worried. I hope it turns out to be great!

What are you using as the basis of your statement about an extended edition of the Hobbit? Speculation? Wishful thinking? Because other people are assuming there will be? There is no reason to think such a think will exist unless PJ says so.

Honestly, I also expect that when people see the actual discs they will release that their concerns were much ado about nothing. Sure I expect they will notice the color timing change, but be OK with it. I could be wrong, but thats what I think will happen.

Unless of course you are on of those people who just HAS to HAVE everything be EXACTLY to the pixel count be EXACTLY the same.

I am greatful to not be one of those people.

Yes, I was one of those people who felt Patton, Gladiator (original), and Predator were absolutely unacceptable releases. I do have my limits, too.

But for me there is a problem only when its a distraction to my viewing experience. Patton and Predator had very noticable DNR and those are the discs that we need to get rid of.

Nothing happened to just watching the damn movie. This can be done on cable television, streaming, DVD or even VHS. You happen to be on bluray.com where anomolies such as this are going to be discussed, wether you like it or not.

All this comes down to a lot a people who have $100 burning a hole in their pocket, have been waiting with baited breath and excitement about this release, and want to feel good about their purchase no matter what. They don't want anyone raining on their parade about anything. It happened with the theatrical releases and it's happening now.

I've already decided... I will not be buying until a replacement program begins.

Until then, I will be doing my very best to make sure that WB knows this release is unacceptable, and assure that they get to work on the correctons and replacement program.

If no one complains, WB will do nothing about it.

The consumer has the power... I feel sorry for those who don't understand that.

I think we all have the same thing in common here, we love movies, and
are emotions get the better of us because as movie lovers all we desire
is the best representation possible. Some people feel this edition is not
the best representation and honestly, I understand why they're upset.

I wonder how many people who complain about the new color timing are ones that tell Star Wars purists to shut up when we ask for the Original Unaltered Trilogy. My opinion is this, if you see the new color and don't like it, then your opinion is just fine! But for those of us that its not as big of an issue, that's just fine too!!! I prefer the original color scheme, but I'm not gonna let the new one get in my way

Good thing its not $100 then... it's only $83 on Amazon. I pre-ordered mine from Borders for $68, though. Which is still too much since I'm not a big fan of these films anyway.

If Peter Jackson DID personally approve this color change as advertised, there won't be a replacement program. Then what will you do?

Wow great point Retablo. Change $100 to $68 burning a whole in their pocket and the entire point changes. Thanks for setting me straight.

Just my thoughts.
Thats what i am also saying because already 2 reviewers have seen it now and thinks it looks great.

I've read all 30+ pages (however many there are) and all the posts.

I plan to buy these on the 28th. I'm not sure if this change will bother me or not. Some say it's not that noticeable when watching the movie.

Earlier this year, we repainted our dining room a different shade of green (funny). The old paint was a "greener" green (to much green) and the new paint was a darker bluer green. As I painted over the old green, the new green looked very grey (grey with blue hues) when you saw it next to the old green. My wife was concerned. But if the old green was covered, the new green was fine. So once we painted it all over, it looked just like she wanted.

I learned that comparing the 2 skewed my ability to see the colors right.

I'm hoping that is the case with the comparison shots. On their own I think most of these new shots look great. Not sure about the snow - I wonder if I would have even noticed if I had not read this thread.

And if it was a screw up, then WB will send out new discs, and it will be fixed. So I'm not worried. I gotta have the LOTR EE in HD!!!
The funny thing about this whole snow thing is that there is no green tint at all they just made it a little darker but it is clear that the sky is still blue and snow is white in that scene

Again, that's why I'm not buying until the problem is fixed. If people buy a botched release, studios won't care to fix them before shipping.

Where are you seeing the caps from the same scene?
But these are the same as the theatrical EE showings and PJ said at the screening for these that this is how the BD EE also look so he gave the OK for this new coloring of the films and some people who now have seen it in the theaters actually says they remember the new coloring at the theater also. So the BD EE is accurate and is what PJ wants them to look like. So anyone waiting for a recall i waiting forever. Because there was no mistake made on these. This is how PJ want the movies to look like.

Probably very few. I would think the Star Wars Original Unaltered Trilogy purists are the ones that wouldn't like the green grading on Fellowship.

What cap are you looking at? The sky is teal and the snow is mint. Not blue and not white.

Well, that's what I'm trying to determine before spending any money on these. He's been contacted directly about this issue/non-issue and hopefully there'll be an official response of some sort soon.

You're right. He should just buy it and keep his mouth shut. Wouldn't want to annoy any overly-sensitive internet posters who need constant validation and reinforcement to placate their own insecurities.

If you really think there will be a replacement program for these releases think again. This is how PJ want the movie to look like now. He himself stated that at the theaters for the Theatrical presentation of FOTR EE. And he said this is how the BD EE also look like.
And if you look at this thread now some people who have seen this at the theaters say there is color change there as well. So there is nothing wrong with the BD EE. But if you still think that even if PJ gave the OK then don't buy them it is that simple.
