Same here, but I have no objections to the new colour timing because the director and cinematographer oversaw and approved these. If the colour timing is in line with Jackson's vision, then I have to look past any personal preferences I had with prior offerings and accept these.

No, he shouldn't buy it if he doesn't like it. But demanding a replacement program when 1) the director reportedly supervised the changes and 2) hardly anyone has seen the discs and keep complaining based on pure speculation is pretty laughable. Oh, only on the Internet...

You should be careful. All I had to do was mention that a lot of posts are being used about this and I got attacked by kingkong650 about not caring about the quality of BD releases and all sorts of other rubbish that had nothing to do with anything I said.

In my opinion that is absolutely sad and pathetic.

You have already made up your mind when I suggested that you wait until the actual discs get released into the wild when you have people who you trust to make a qualified judgement that is based on them viewing the actual discs. If you see enough info from them that its a botched release then I feel that you will have enough evidence to make a decision.

I do hope that once most people view the discs and come to the conclusion that Bill Hunt and the great Robert Harris came to, you will reconsider.

Then I will keep my money and my EE DVD's until the Re-release years from now and they restore it to the way it originally looked for the last decade, and was originally supervised by and intended by PJ... As demonstrated in the special feature on the digital color grading.

Quite frankly , if this truly was a horrible revisionist decision by PJ, it would be fitting with every bad film decision he has made since this Trilogy(ala replacing Ryan Gosling with Mark Wahlberg in the lovely bones).

PJ isn't a great director.. if he was, he would've actually communicated with his actors during pre-production and wouldn't have had to fire Gosling for interpreting the character in a different way. But he was too busy on visual effects to deal with the only important thing in films - the real human actors. That's what style over substance will get ya every time.

For what it is worth I will GLADLY come out and say I was wrong if the people here complaining get their hands on actual discs (via friends or renting) and then can confirm their worst fears.

I have no problem doing so.

Actually almost eveyone who has seen it at the theaters recently say they didn't see much if any of the changes/green tint...

I really think you just create your own reality at this point... lol

And people never see grain in theaters but complain about it on a blu-ray, when it was there the whole time. So that really means nothing. Especially the "almost" part....

Don't think that means it wasn't there, just because they didn't notice it.

Well Robert Harris is a guy who is contantly turned to and quoted to justify and has always been seen as the end all be all for bluray quality. Whenever he says something looks bad (and he is usually right) people just latch onto his comments and fuel tons of fire.

So yeah, I guess I am saying that.

As for the first part. Yes. I DO think its sad and pathetic to decide you don't like something before you have the chance to see for yourself. Don't use the argument that we don't want to waste our hard earned dollars to purchase something that is inferior. There are plenty of ways to see the discs without having to buy. See the discs for yourself and THEN decide the product is not worth purchasing.

I want to be clear that ALL I am asking is to just wait until you have the discs (via purchase, rent, borrowing or stealing) before making all of these snap judgement decisions.

I STILL suspect that most people might notice the change and not care at all once they actually see it and realize it was nowhere near as bad as they thought.

Of course I dont expect anyone to admit it if they do.

Love Bill Hunt's comment:

"First, apparently this means you aren't likely to be convinced you're wrong even if Peter Jackson were to weigh in on the matter himself (which I'm told he may do). Second, could it be that since people like myself and Robert aren't seeing the extreme green tint (evidenced in some of these screen shots) on the actual discs when viewed on properly calibrated monitors, and people didn't see it either in the theatrical screenings, that maybe it's actually not there? Industry friends I trust who were at the theatrical screenings last night said they did notice small color timing changes in the presentation - much as Robert describes in his comments (as "a point or two toward cyan-blue") but nothing as bad as what these screenshots are showing. I would say my observations are that Robert's comments are accurate as well - there's a slight change in the timing, but not nearly as bad as what these screenshots are showing. Believe me, when I saw the screenshots myself, I WAS actually horrified. But that is NOT what I'm seeing on the actual discs. That's not what Robert is seeing either. I suppose it could be that some copies that leaked out early were defective. It could also be that some of these screenshot projects aren't accurately capturing what's actually on the disc. I don't know. "

Yeah, Hunt and Harris NEVER said the green tint wasn't there, all they have said is that it is nowhere as bad as what people have been making it out to be and that it does not at all affect the viewing experience.

You, on the otherhand, have already decided that it DOES affect the viewing experience without seeing for yourself. And its that line of thinking that I am calling people out on.
