Something to keep in mind here is that most of us are operating on speculation; we will soon have the product in hand. Many of us are concerned about the green tint -as we should - but, as we are all fans of the same movie/story (otherwise we would not be posting on/reading this thread), we should not allow that issue to deteriorate to the point where hard feelings are created. So please, let's maintain an intelligent discussion that is spirited - but civil.

Wow. Seriously, you need to act maturely.

Bill Hunt's photo cannot be used as evidence (in either argument) to the picture quality of Fellowship because it is a digital picture of a computer image. It's a copy of a copy and Hunt even said as much. It is not an accurate representation of the final product. There are other reviewers on AVS who have said that their retail product does match the screenshots. I'm not going to surf through posts, but it is there.

I hope that Bill Hunt is right. We would want nothing more than for him to be right. However, all the visual evidence and most testimony has said that the BDs have the excessive regrading. Now, can we all act civil and have an honest discussion without nipping at each other like children?

Stop taking things so personally. In the end, it is just a movie. This is coming from someone who is obsessed with film and owns 352 Blus. This is important to me, but I will listen to other people's opinions without jumping down their throats.

which if you take into account some of the posts that don't add one bit of importance, credibility, or just flat out "hot air" to the thread, can easily be ignored.

That is precisely what we are talking about. That photo of his does not prove anything when it comes to color timing. You'd know that if you understood things like white balance, color temperature and how digital cameras in automatic mode work.

I'm still confused as to why readers would take simple AVS reviewers and regular moviegoers' word over an industry veteran who regularly deals in the format (Hunt) and another (Harris) who actually works in film restoration and knows what he's talking about when it comes to issues like this?

Then again, the same people cry wolf over a couple of non-representative screenshots when they haven't even seen it for themselves. It's happened so many times in the past, you'd think people would learn their lesson.

After reading Bill Hunt's review, and subsequent comments, I am going to flat out say that I don't believe the screenshots, where the contrast is really bad. Come on. Do you people REALLY believe that they would have messed that up and not noticed it?

Bill Hunt also said that PJ may speak up soon. I hope so. I hope that New Line also speaks up and announces lawsuits against all the pirates and the people who downloaded the pirated copies. And if it turns out that all these negative screenshots are inaccurate, then I hope New Line also sues the people who came up with them for fraud, and libel or slander.

but they don't - I hope it's a repeat of the whole pre-release hoopla of 'The Ten Commandments' bluray - a whole bunch of *****in' and moaning only to lead to overreacting on something that wasn't worth getting all worked up about.

I don't like taking anyone's word for anything when there's tangible evidence to be had. Luckily, this isn't an audio issue, where vague impressions and subjectivist nonsense are all that can be discussed.

It's just funny though that people are so quick to believe a nobody who posts a few shots yet disregard the professionals who have SEEN the discs and work in the industry... it makes no sense.

Ok but then WHY would it adjust the actual bluray and not the screenshot, too????

If what YOU are saying is true then both screens should look identical

which they dont.

Its in this thread right here.
http://www.hometheaterforum.com/foru...-in-blu-ray/90

See the whole thing for perspective. Its only 4 pages long and it gives me VERY strong reason to believe that these screenshots have been taken in error.

HTF Poster: "Here is the three panel comparison. The left image is one of the EE screen caps that first surfaced. The right image is the theatrical edition Blu-ray. The image in the middle is the one you provided to a reader."

No it doesn't make sense. And it is also known now that PJ approved the new coloring for this like he said in the theater, So it really does not make any sense at all

Had a look at a 720p rip of the region A version and I can see a slight green/cyan look to certain scenes (snow scene in particular), BUT seriously, it is not that bad. Lots of folks getting het up over nothing, as per usual.

Does no one think that that look for the snow scenes makes it look colder? And that maybe that it is intentional? Remember folks, it's not a documentary you're watching.

Every blu-ray.com review has 20 screencaps, 5 within the review and 15 more available in a tab on the review. But the reviewers here don't use accolades like "It's my opinion that The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, in this long form, is an achievement unmatched in the history of cinema", so they don't get their screeners quite as early as Mr. Hunt.

Yeah I was just referring to the fact that bluray.com had to take down their caps for the original releases at WB's request because of the controversy surrounding the subpar Fellowship pic quality.

As for BH's quote, yeah lol how rediculous. Move over Lawrence of Arabia you've got nothing on Lord Of The Rings (aside from being better written, acted, directed, photographed, edited and scored)

I'm more inclined to think Bill's software or video card drivers are doing something goofy.
I'm not sure who does the captures at the caps-a-holic site but in my experience they are accurate.
