Its bedtime and I am now even more excited about this set than I was before the day began.

Thankfully my main beef is STILL with the fact that all of the extras were not put on one Bluray instead of 3 dvds.

Again some amazing screenshot of the gorgeous new transfer for FOTR EE and shots for TTT and ROTK. They are from a 720p

Green is where its supposed to be. And no green where its not supposed to be
3 FOTR
3 ROTK
3 TTT

The person that posted over on AVS Forum has been a member since 2001 and is extremely active in that community (over 12,000 posts). I'll trust his comments over your rude opinion of him any day of the week. And take a look at his message over there yourself. He did not use bold letters.

And while I'm on the subject... I truly enjoy the forum here on Blu-ray.com. Lots of good banter and debate and there are plenty of knowledgable people here, young and old. But when it comes to total depth of home theater experience for a given membership, the pool of folks over at AVS Forum have that market cornered. Many of the participants there date back to before there was an internet. Many of us actually discussed and shared our home theater experiences on services like CompuServe and GEnie before many of the people here even knew what an E-mail was.

Hard to actually say this... but the images look to be those from The Noble Collection. Still fairly doubtful, unless their just giving us a handful of pieces (not enough for a full set), given what The Noble Collection charges for them...

Evidence/Findings to support this theory:
- Image of the BB Exclusive Version (best I could find):
[Show spoiler]

- Image of the Noble Collection's Initial Chess Set Pieces:
[Show spoiler]

- Image of the Noble Collection's TT Character Package:
[Show spoiler]

- Image of the Noble Collection's RotK Character Package:
[Show spoiler]

Closer looking at the fuzzy images, it looks like there is at least:
1 Nazgul (from the TT Set)
1 Gollum (from the TT Set)
2 Pawns (from the initial Set, one of each color)
1 Gandalf (from the initial Set)
1 Aragron (from the RotK Set)

Looking for some better images, but for now that's what I've got.

As I was skimming through pages of this thread from the past several days, the thought occurred to me: "What would 'The Man', J.R.R. Tolkien, have thought about the controversy surrounding the release of the BD EE, the most detailed cinematic translation of his creation to date?" An educated guess might be: amusement, perhaps mixed with apprehension - as he leaned towards pacifism. It is unfortunate that genuine Tolkien experts such as his son Christopher, and his biographers Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull probably never view forums such as this, because I would love to see their comments.

Christopher Lee added legitimacy to the project, as he was the only one on the set who actually met Tolkien; also, he claims to read the novel every year (I'd like to have him in our forum group).

I just posted my review(s). My apologies for the length of the video review for 'Fellowship of the Ring.' I had a lot of ground to cover

I'm also sure there are typos or small grammatical errors here or there. Feel free to PM me if you notice any mistakes, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. I welcome any and all corrections

I'll be online tomorrow throughout the day if anyone has any questions or would like any clarification on any points. I'll do my best to visit this thread as frequently as I can in case I can be of any further help. For now, I need some sleep

I am disappoint.

Think I still need some direct comparisons to the DVDs, I'm just not convinced this was the upgrade I was hoping for Perhaps its because we're getting used to IMAX quality stuff & LOTR is kinda old now so the CG effects have suffered a bit

Maybe I'll just wait till it gets cheaper

These movies don't represent the cutting edge of digital film mastering these days but they still look pretty solid to my eye

All I can say is: THANK YOU.

Thank you once again for a thorough and well balanced review. And, in this particular case, I can only begin to imagine how hard (and scary) must have been to tread on such a thin, cracking ice.

As a side note, if only you could address this particular shot:

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/58337

Green tint aside, is it really that blurry and indistinct on the BD?

And before I leave, just a little offtopic as my way of thanking you: whatever you do this weekend, DON'T go to see GREEN LANTERN.

Apparently, this is a good time to be wary of green...
