No, it doesn't.

That's the original color timing. The original presentation had at times strong color biases depending on exactly how Jackson wanted a certain scene to feel (sometimes red, sometimes blue, sometimes green, etc.) rather than just a generic green/teal throughout as the new presentation has.

Yes, it just really irks me that one the most major releases on blu-ray this year has 1.5 times the number of DVDs as actual blu-ray discs. They could probably fit the extra features for each film on one BD25, certainly one BD50.

The EE dvd cost £50 when it came out also the movies are 12 hours long

Anyway, if this ultimately turns out to be a technical mis-step in the mastering process or an accurate deliberate color choice by the creator, if the later holds true, in the next round of debate/discussion you guys can all blame ‘Hollywood”, as even the mainstream media is getting in on the *green action*, as of yesterday - http://www.ocregister.com/entertainm...ovie-film.html

I, myself, believe the Wicked Witch of the West is the root cause of everyone’s green misery and this all can be traced back to 1939 -

I beleive Blade Runner was 5 discs, but I could be wrong. Haven't watched it for awhile.

Personally, I'm going to call this the "Fellowship Of The Ring" - Kermit The Frog edition.

Thanks for the news Ken, I have been wondering exactly that. Details on the packaging including thickness.

But I think this mob wil only be placated by "tar and feathering" someone.

I'm not going to judge anything based on all the hysteria. But this does cement my decision to wait until it's closer to $60 and word on what is up with the first movie.

Yeah, it should be cheaper. Six SW films are available for the same price!

Most people already have most of the discs in this set anyway.

Someone mentioned about 1,400 pages back (or roughly three days ago) some "crazy deal" BB is offering in-store on release day. Has anyone heard any more about this or was it just an unsubstantiated rumor? If I could save some cash I'd cancel my Amazon preorder and just swing by BB on my way to work the day it releases....

That Rivendell shot nearly looks like a DVD vs. BD comparison.

Borders charged my card for this and the Stargate Atlantis set today so it looks like they are getting ready to ship the sets out.

Love the packaging, but kinda strange they have the same five characters on all three covers in just different poses. Legolas, Gimli, Gollum, etc. get no love. Arwen really didn't have a major role.

OMGZ guys maybe the snow is green cause they are on a mountain made of lime snow cones. Or maybe the sky is teal, because the chlorophyll from the plants reflects off the atmosphere and makes it look like that. Or maybe the sky is green because of the polution from saruman's war machines is making it look green. The outside scenes are probably so dark because the sun is dying and Sunshine is actually the sequel to the lord of the rings. Duh.

The weird thing is that it only looks green in certain scenes... the screenshots I posted before show no signs of the inferior picture quality that is shown in the picture of Frodo and Sam in the field and the walk over the mountain..
