Oh and for Canadians buyers, there's a 15% off right now (online sale until 10h00 am tomorrow morning), so it's 71.39 +tx instead of 83.99$!

This post is probably one of the most insightful. Since apparently no additional special feature material is included, this is NOT the ultimate edition (or whatever it is supposed to be called) that was referred to last year about the time of the theatrical BD release.

I don't know how much more special features they can add. The boxset looks loaded with features that was carried over from the extended dvd set. This looks like it may be the definitive boxset for blu ray.

Yea, I know, studios have a history of double and triple releases on the same titles. They just want more money from the consumer. However, I think if they did somehow release another suppose version, it may be release in converted 3D with all the 3D hype the studios want us into.

I bought the TE DVDs, then sold them to get the EE DVDs, then sold them to get the TE blu-rays, which I now have, and will sell to get the EE blu-rays!

Same here with the exception I did not buy the TE blu ray as I am waiting for the EE Blu ray. However, once I buy purchase the EE blu ray, I believe it will be my last purchase for this trilogy. If it does come out on converted 3D, I have not interest in purchasing it.

Yea, the EE DVDs looks nice on display case. Unfortunately, I sold it once I heard news the EE was coming out on blu ray.

I just can't bring myself to sell my EE dvd's. I am a big fan of Alan Lee's LOTR drawings, and his artwork on the inside of the EE DVD's ensures that they will remain in my collection indeffinitely to go along with my Alan Lee illustrated edition of the books.

Yes, I agree, I artwork is very nice and I hope the blu ray version will at least equal or hopefully superior to the drawing and designs of the EE DVDS. Since it is a little pricey it shouldn't be anything less than amazing. It is marketed as LIMITED, so I expect something special from this boxset.

Actually the "limited" has now been removed (according to Amazon.com)

I'm hoping the summer release is true (they probably don't want competetion with another certain BD box set coming out in the fall.)

I am so sick of spending money on these movies. The original dvd release, the extended release.

The blu ray box, and now they want me to what, quadruple dip!!!

If Peter Jackson's oversees the EE blu ray release, we can rest assure it will be packed and worth every penny.

The EE are not available on blu-ray so these are not a double dip.
