Most of the film is not greenish/cyan in tint to such a harsh degree apart from Key Scenes - now that I've had the chance to watch it. The film looks AMAZING! It's definitely NOT a technical error to my eyes. Those who have been saying that it's awash all over are plain wrong. It looks better to my eyes than the theatrical that I have and is a MAJOR improvement.

If you're sitting on the fence I would say "Do not hesitate to buy it", based on this colour debate. No one, other than the most troll-like persons with nothing better to do than worry about something most haven't even watched on their home sets yet, will be concerned.

5 stars for the video presentation from me. (and yes the snow is green/cyan - but it sets the mood - bright moods tend to be much more golden).

I am sorry for those who were really looking forward to these. what a real bummer.
Don't be, it's a beautiful and vibrantly coloured release which makes perfect sense - different colour settings for different tones of the film.

I didn't see the cinema release so can't comment, but I thought the picture and coloration on the blu ray looked stunning?

Dreadful pity about this filter, not to mention the contrast problem... seems like this would have been a bloody fine transfer otherwise. I just wonder if Jackson and Leslie have gotten around to taking a look at the finished product... some kind of official comment on the situation would be most welcome!

Sorry, but your post reeks of apologist philosophy, and actually enforces the possibility something unintended has occurred.

That's how I feel. Peter Jackson isn't going to be wrong, it's his film - it's just the tone of the colours in some places. I'm of the opinion it's NOT a mistake at all.

As always, I must question claims like this, because the people making them likely saw the exact same images I did, and the issues didn't put them off... it happens every time; the chants of "I watched Gladiator and it looked great, all of those dopey whiners don't know what they're talking about!" ensue, then I rent the film a few months later and it's every bit the garbage I figured it was. (and then the remastered version comes out and everybody can't replace it fast enough)

P.S. I didn't intend to be antagonistic, I'm just shocked at how great it looks after all this fuss!

This is the kind of uncalled for smug characterization and cheap ad hominem attack that has been derailing this thread for a while.

For me, it serves to assess how reliable is your opinion.

No frogmort, it's the hue of the picture. It's consistent and cold. Nor is it green it has a blueish tint. Personally I like the way it looks, cold and bleak - other worldly, almost ...well fantastical. It is a fantasy world after all...!

I think they will all think you're bonkers! No seriously, don't hold your breath...and there is no 'filter' throughout the film. Just key scenes, dark, melancholic scenes.

I rate the transfer as 'bloody fine'.

Packaging Pics have previously been posted here (and a few other times) so here they are again for good measure (as this thread still moves a few pages a day).

Because these people have based it on screen caps, speculation etc. Watch the film and see if it works. It works perfectly for me and I'm extremely rreleived. And Yes there are some short sighted opinions on here based on assumptions.

The colour suits the mood and feel perfectly. It's quite simply beautiful, at least to my eyes,

Reviewers have mentioned the tint issue. So we 're not to trust those but you?

Since you are not paying for other people's orders you are not in state of making statements that can mislead them.GOT IT?

Well just ordered mine from Amazon, hopefully we get a nice price match war going and it goes even lower.

I don't own any of these movies at the moment, and I guess I'm green color blind. I've watched all the youtube clips and even the one they say looks really bad, all I noticed was how detailed and sharp everything was. Yes I've seen the screen caps and was shocked, disappointed, and dismayed like a lot of you. Guess I'll be OK as long as I don't start freezing frames..... maybe ..... guess I'll see for myself once I get'em.

I've always loved Green Hobbits and Ham anyway.... Sam I am ....

If they decide to tone down the colorisation because of popular demand then that's fine by me btw. I presume I can return it, but I certainly don't feel like they will. Who really knows? Peter certainly does, so let's see.

Now I thought I was funny ....

Regarding another post of yours though, I thought the snow was too blue, not green? I also don't understand your hesitation in getting this set. Thought a Frog like you would appreciate the greenish tint ....
