But before there is any kind of a replacement program, do we not need to know that there is indeed a problem, has anyone said officially that there is? I myself have not read anything like that yet, if there is admission to this, please by all means post this information for us all to have and read. Thanks |

I'm not so sure the vast majority owns the DVD sets or owned them. I've seen the bonus features (used to own the sets) and I like to watch them after I watch the trilogy so I'm glad they are being included.

This new Amazon UK development further indicates that there is something Wrong with this release...
This is an extremely high profile release. There's no way that they've already ran completely out of stock... And even if that was the case, the message wouldn't be "Sign up to be notified when item becomes available". Amazon doesn't do that unless a item is unavailable or there is a problem... Otherwise they would still let you order and just give you a date they expect to have it in stock... This Amazon UK thing combined(although possibly not directly connected) with no official statement from Jackson, Lesnie or WB after having clearly been informed of the issue indicates that there is a problem and they are waiting until after the release to say anything so that they can unload as much stock that they've already produced as possible. Things just keep looking better for those of us waiting on the replacement program. ![]() Last edited by Illy Scorsese; 06-25-2011 at 05:06 PM. |

Now though they seem to be heavily blue/green as you said, so it seems as though the green is playing with what was once blue. Here's a good example of the effect the green tint has on these scenes: [Show spoiler]

Very good example indeed.
In TE we see lots of colours: white dress, hair is white with slight blue push, skin tone of the face, silver color of staff. In EE everything went green... |

I'm gutted we have chunky blue Amaray's instead of the fantastic black cases you guys in the US have had. Out of curiosity has anyone checked their digital copies to see the quality of them? Are they in 2 parts for each film or edited into one? |

The digital copies likely won't be activated until release date. Otherwise Im sure we would have gotten plenty of comparisons about them. |

Overall, I'm one of the biggest haters of Hollywood's overuse of cyan/teal tinted color timing. It's sadly become almost the standard with all major studio films within the last 3 years or so. It really bothers me when blacks look blue, blues look teal, etc. It bothers me even more when older films that had more natural color timing originally are altered to look more "modern," using the cyan/teal push that most current films have.
I was bummed when Ridley Scott revised the color timing to the slightly overt cyan/teal look with his Alien blu-ray remaster, and it drove me nuts when James Cameron did the same thing (to a much greater extent) with his Aliens blu-ray remaster. However, the increased detail and clarity was ABSOLUTELY worth it, so I'm always willing to overlook the revised color timing while watching those films and really enjoy watching them. I have a feeling I'll have the exact same reaction to FOTR. I'll gladly welcome all that gorgeous detail with open arms. |

I don't understand why the blu-ray.com review or any others for that matter haven't shown screenshots with comparisons and pointing out the green tint. Because the screenshots from the review on this site look great to me. Everyone keeps referring to screenshots from sources that I don't no to trust or not. Am I missing something or what?

What DetroitSportsFan said is what happened. Back when I pre-ordered it from Borders for $65 and change, I called Amazon up to see if they would work with me. I told them that since getting Prime, I had spent nearly $1000 and I prefer ordering from them instead of Borders. So they gave me a $20 credit. The new price was $63.99. Amazon just matched Best Buy's price of $69.99 and applied the $20 credit.

It seems to me that detail on TTT is better on TE than EE:
