Actually if you order online here in the UK, you will receive it on the weekend before 99% of the time.

Just because someone doesn't agree with your point of view there's no need to imply he is lying.

No. 8 is odd as it doen't have the framing difference like the other ones. And no.8 looks identical aprt from a shift it colour.

Gah. Google says that Deepdiscount shipped my order and gave me a tracking number. The tracking number doesn't work and I emailed DD about it, but they said they didn't have a valid tracking number for it.

Sometimes it doesn't work until it has gone through a sorting facility. I'd say give it a day or two.

What about Gandalf's hair? I also measured it at the whitest spot (on top of his head):

Well, surely Saruman's robe is "white"? No:

What about that "white" paper behind Gandalf? Sorry, but no white there either:

All of the "whites" in that image are actually greys with very strong tints toward blue-green.

Now, I understand that to your eyes it may look like like there are whites in that image. But you better go back and read Ken Brown's message that has been quoted here multiple times. FOTR EE Blu-ray DOES have a green/teal/cyan tint.

Mark
Mark, have you compared the same scenes in the TE? Are they "pure white" or do they also show not a perfect white?

There is certainly enough white in there for me. WHat else can I say?

Default How are we sure about the pure white?

Are we also 100% sure that Saruman's hair or robe was pure white in that particular scene of that movie? How can we know that without having the film's negative projected in a movie theatre or unless we are Peter Jackson or the cinematographer of the movie? Otherwise comments on a particular tint would be based either on memory dating back when you saw the film in the movie theatre or the supposition that if Saruman's hair is white, it must be pure white.

Am I not right?

Wow seriously if they gave this a green tint on all the new editions I am going to be super pissed. I had to cancel my Pre Order for monetary reasons for this set and had planned on re ordering when my new job kicked in but my god I for sure wont be ordering this if it has that nasty ass green tint. To me that's a HUGE defect.

"Well Gandalf is still gandalf the "grey" and Saruman still Saruman the "white" wizard here. Hair is grey on gandalf and hair is white on saruman like its supposed to be. I only notice that the image is a little darker. Thats all and i still think this is intentionally done be Peter Jackson "

That's exactly why I'm upset with this release These look too dark to me. I guess I'll have to watch this release on vivid in order to see it. I admit the eyes on this "Goldengirl" may be getting old, but I think this is excessive.

Probably. They are price matching Best Buy, so it'll likely stay that price at least through Saturday.

I am not even a huge nerd-like fan, but even I watched the documentary where Ian McKellen says that since Sauraman is actually an evil wizard, his overlook look is not actually white (akin to Gandalf the White) it is an off-white. I think that pretty much explains it here.

To hear all the banter, you'd think it looked like this!

This caught my attention and maybe partially answers your question. Ken Brown said as part of a larger post

Quote:
That's why snow and bright whites in theatrical viewings of any film look nice and white even though, if measured, they would shown to be far from pure white.
Robert Harris posted this in response to another poster

Quote:
Which is precisely why there was no pure white in dye transfer Technicolor. There was always a dimension of tonality.
So we know his hair will not be white on a screen capture. Diman1982's capture actaully shows blues towards purple tones with a color picker. I know which I prefer of the two and lets say its not the latter.

Fortunately I do not have photoshop color picker in motion while viewing films

The answer is yes…..the image would lose perceived detail.
Thank you. That's what I thought, but it's nice to hear from someone who knows what they're talking about.
