You can't blame a studio for releasing a movie after the director changed the color timing.

If of course it turns out to be an error on the studios part, which at this point we do not know one way or the other, then you can blame them.

To make those films look considerably better, you'd have to pretty much reassemble their visual effects.
then y spread it out over 2 discs if it's the same master....no.. 2 discs means higher quality..better transfer,etc..or so we are lead to believe..but in this case it's the same pat of butter only spread over 2 slices of bread

So true lol kinda sad tho. I figure if you don't like how he wants HIS movie, just stick with the EE dvd sets.

Now that WB has confirmed there is no production error, I just placed my order on Amazon. I don't love these films enough to throw fits about the new color scheme in FOTR, but I can understand those who will remain angry over the decision.

I have refused to buy The French Connection BD due to the changes made by Friedkin. I think his changes completely ruined that film. But I don't think this entire set is "ruined" with the new color scheme.

How about some of you get on the phone and call Wingnut Films for a direct response. Use Skype or what ever it is so its a free call.

Cool. Makes no difference to me. I was going to get the set regardless. If it was a mistake, then I would have just got a replacement disc. At least I know I will be enjoying the EE for a while! Because we can almost guarantee that another box set will not be released until both Hobbit films come to Blu. So good luck to those that hold out for that LOL. because chances are, if this is intended, it will now be the standard for any future release.

Just out of curiosity...is there a link to this confirmation? I am buying the set anyways (cant wait until tomorrow)..but is there a link stating this (an official one)?

I would certainly take PJ's word over the studio that would likely be responsible for the seeming error we're noting.

That said, even if this bizarre color change that isolates FOTR from the rest of the films is PJ's intentional choice, that won't make most people think that it's a remotely GOOD choice. The fact remains that adding a green tint to the whole film and boosting the contrast up to the limit makes FOTR a sub-par release, - even if it's from a new master with more detail than the TEs - and significantly lower in overall quality and enjoyability than the other two films.

If it's not a statement directly from Jackson... Then it's a grain of salt to me quite frankly.

Discussion on this matter is finally coming to an end. I´ll place my order and move on.

Thank you Robert!
