Look at the backlash WB is getting from Gettysburg and Gods and Generals... Makes me glad they stuck with 2 discs for this release...

No kidding. Gettysburg has its fans but if they had screwed up the transfers of LOTR like that, there would have been rioting. Just look at the kerfuffle over the non-existent so-called "green tint debacle."

Ironically, I think it's comments like these that prevent the debate from going away and incite more bickering. It is irrefutable that the green tint is there. Whether you notice it or it bothers you is a different matter all together. As has been stated numerous times throughout this thread, a green tint wouldn't make everything appear green, but simply affect all the hues presently in the film.

I still think that they could fit all three of them on a single disc... and they would look fine to me, on my 32" 720p TV that most of my movies get watched on, but you snag someone here *cough* Fors* *cough* who has a pretty wicked home theater... yeah its gonna be noticeable...

No, that wasn't the whole point and I don't understand why you or anyone else ever thought that. A Blu-ray disc can hold about the same amount of 1080p content as a DVD can hold of 480i content at their respective average bitrates. The whole point of Blu-ray was high-definition video and high-resolution audio.

I sent them an email and their response was: Discs not loading properly are due to the firmware being out of date and the Persistent Storage becoming corrupt. Download and install the 55-0226 Firmware installed (http://oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-8...e-55-0226.aspx). Perform an Erase BD-Video Data (Device Setup->Persistent Storage) and disable BD-Live (Network Setup). Turn off the player then turn it back on. All current and future discs should now load properly. We have seen some cases with Warner Brothers releases that loading another release from the same company during the same power cycle can cause these kind of loading errors. Please try power cycling the player between discs and see if the same errors occur. Which tells me they didn't completely read my email since I already stated I had the latest firmware. I don't know. I feel that I should not have to erase my persistent storage to get something to work right. If anyone has further comments send them via PM since this is not the thread to do so. |

Yeah people downloading itfrom an unknown source based on an unknown image that could have been altered by an unknow process so they can put tools to it and find ways to complain without having complete facts.

I think whether or not it bothers someone says more about the person watching. Based on my impressions of the disc in my possession, for someone to be bothered by the color grading of FOTR, they would have to viewing the image hyper-critically, looking for flaws, and not simply watching the film and enjoying what is a high-quality presentation.

Yes. Got two "Part One" discs for Fellowship from Best Buy (preorder). Going back today to switch it out for another set. Curious to know if this happened to anyone else too...
