I honestly feel that because the picture a little dull, that this WAS NOT what Jackson signed off on. I really wish he would make a statement. His silence on the matter is still interesting to me. He has answered questions posed after this one on his Facebook page and he is still relatively active on Facebook, even though he's insanely busy on The Hobbit. If Jackson told WBHV to repress the discs, they would. He's that much of an asset to them. Now, like was mentioned much earlier, I think that they will do a quiet replacement program, figuring that most people won't give a damn. It is a lot cheaper to fix the issue on a new set of inventory than it would have been to recall all the discs before street date. I'd be a little disappointed if in a year, no statement or replacement came out. I wouldn't be surprised if in a year, a replacement program was put in place. I'm not going to hold my breath, but Jackson could easily make it happen because he loves these films so much. He pours over every single decision when it comes to visuals. I highly doubt that he would have decided to take down the white levels to the entire film. It just doesn't add up. Considering that they rescanned the film for this release, there's no reason why I should see such a difference in clarity and contrast between Fellowship and Two Towers (a film released only one year later and shot at the same time). |

Ken (and anyone else really) I realized that my answer may not fully answer that question as well as you would like, but you could always visit the Movie vs Book thread and ask it (or other questions about parts of the Movie/Book) and get answers from some very knowledgeable Tolkien fans.

Guy's, I remember reading a rumor that stated WB specifically asked PJ to use a stuffed animal in the scene where Sam is cooking the coney but you can clearly see that he used a real dead rabbit. The exquisite detail in the new FOTR transfer clearly proves this. I wonder how much flack WB got from PETA over this?

In other words, if it was a problem with my television, then shouldn't Two Towers look duller and green, as well? It's not a gigantic difference, but certainly one that you can see when you pop in Two Towers. |

To not be tempted to even reply to the frequent posts by certain posters, I'm making very good use of the ignore function. Some people seem to attempting to simply shout down all rational discussion of the "issue", which I find irrational (and infuriating). Perhaps those trying to silence discussion should be dealt with accordingly?

If I was being Subjective I would ignore the 'evidence' that Warner say is an intentional change and say, 'no- they are wrong'. So, No I will not. Does that help to explain? Last edited by karlosfunkster; 06-30-2011 at 10:00 PM. |

The BDP-S570 actually displays DTS HD MA 6.1 ES matrix. The PS3 displays either codec as DTS HD MA 6.1 ES without the matrix/discrete qualifier. I'm not sure if the BDP-S570 will display DTS HD MA Discrete. It may simply show a discrete codec as DTS HD MA 6.1 ES. i.e. indicate the codec is Discrete by omission of the Matrix qualifier. For example, T2 Skynet edition audio display is: English DTS-HD Master Audio ES 6.1 Matrix 6.1 ch 48 kHz on the BDP-S570, which is exactly the same as the display for the TE FOTR disks. The display on the PS3 slim is DTS-HD MA 6.1 ch 48 kHz for both disks. For X-Men TLS, the display on the BDP S 570 is DTS-HD Master Audio 6.1 ch 48 kHz. I believe X-Men TLS is Discrete, but I am not positive. Here is a concise definition of the two DTS ES versions for those who are interested: http://www.timefordvd.com/ref/dts-ES.shtml Edit: Just got the EE. Popped in FOTR. The Audio is DTS HD MA 6.1 It is Discrete. If it were matrix, there would be a qualifier. This is on the Sony BDP S570. First impression of the audio is WOW! I am truly sorry if this was brought up earlier, but it has been confirmed that the digital copy is taken off the older DVD master, correct? I only ask because I just received my digital copy of Fellowship and it definitely does not have any teal.
