If you don't like LOTR, move along. Save your Star Wars comments for the SW threads.

I bought all these movies individually on their DVD release dates (theatrical & extended) and really enjoyed them. But haven't upgraded them to Blu. I just don't want to double dip again until the EEs or now this Ultimate set.

And it doesn't really matter to me if the movies are on on 1 disc or 2, as long as quality isn't lost. But with my lack of time to watch longer movies like these, I had fun watching the EEs one half movie at a time.

-1............I am hoping for MAX quality which will take splitting up each film on to two discs. Sounds like they are going the 2 disc route which is great news IMO Now how about 7.1 audio

Agreed..................put each film on 2 discs for the best possible PQ/AQ and all the extras on another disc(s).

I would have to get up once during a ~4 hour movie anyway to take a piss...........changing out the disc is a non issue IMO and much preferred to cramming these epic films onto 1 disc

There is no need to place the films on two discs. Its blu-ray for goodness sake. There is a ton of room on there. It should be released as a 4 disc set with the three films on their own disc and the extras from the DVD EE set on a separate disc. Thats good enough.

A built-in intermission at around the same spot as the "continue film" prompt on the DVD EE's would be nice though. I doubt that will happen. Oh well.

Its a false choice. We don't need to choose between getting the best quality and keeping the movie on one disc. Blu-Ray has more then enough room. Save splitting the movie over two discs for the upcoming 3D conversion.

With how many examples we have of Blu-Rays looking great at low bitrates I have to believe that the belief that higher bitrates always without exception lead to higher quality to be a form of maddness.

If they put each EE on one disc, it's the only way I'll get it. Never seen the EEs, so I'm content with the TEs. But if they are each on one disc, which would be perfectly fine, I may get them eventually.

I respect your opinion Jimmy (and have read it in this thread), but dont agree. Lets just leave it at that

2 discs for each film with 7.1 audio is my hope! Put the extras on a 7th disc.

When is everyones guess as far as a release? I would bet the holiday season.

This would defeat the purpose of having the films on 1 disc If they are going to do that, might as well split up the film on 2 discs (my hope) and MAX the potential quality

Ive backed up my opinion with facts and examples. You haven't. Your entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts which are false.

Agreed with this. 2 discs for 1 movie is bogus
