Sod off with this BS. I recognize it's there but I like it and I don't care if the TE has different coloring. The fact is that the TE BD is riddled with excessive DNR and has very little detail. That's why I bought the EE BD, not because of some statement a useless studio presented in defending its product. The coloring doesn't bother me except in a few instances. To me it looks so much better than the alternative, which is a shoddy inferior version of the film. But don't let this get in the way of your bleating and sticking it to the studio.

'Better' is relative and it's very much up to subjective perception. So in effect you are willing to trade one defect for another (yes, the green is very much a defect for me!) I am not. I want something that has the original sparkling colors plus the new detail, not this horrible green drab mess.
As it is I'd very much keep the DVDs if I still had them. |

The other argument that I have, which I believe to be at least a little more valid, is that FOTR never looked similar to the other two. Now, it looks more similar because of the changed colour timing. The new tint, who knows what's going on there. There's a myriad of reasons why it could be there and a million for why it shouldn't be there. But while FOTR doesn't look quite right compared to its brothers, it's a damn sight closer than it was before imho. |

I recommend everyone do it. Even if you're not totally appalled by this transfer (I can live with it, but I believe it was a mistake), but would like the option of a disc exchange, go ahead and type out a short, polite message informing them of your feelings on the matter. There really is no sense beating this dead horse of "IT'S GREEN, LOOK AT YET ANOTHER SET OF SCREENSHOTS" or "I DON'T SEE THE GREEN IT'S PERFECT PETER JACKSON TOLD US SO NYAH NYAH". We get it already. The green is there. It bothers some more than others. Simple as that. People need to stop with this repetitive nonsense already and let it die until we get a statement from PJ. Until then, voice your concerns to WHV as many times as you can (make up email addresses after the first one). Barring that, at least take the topic in a new direction, or start some kind of online petition or something. Do something constructive instead of this circular arguing that never gets anyone anywhere. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and history is on our side that if we cry and moan loudly enough about this one, something might be done. No harm or offense intended, I just think everyone needs to take a step back and a deep breath and realize how silly it is for grown men to continue on and on like this. ![]() Cheers. |

Some scenes aren't so consistent anymore, I'll agree, but others are more so. Beyond that, why are people complaining about a blanket tint if they want consistency? ![]() |

Finally got a chance to watch FOTR on my set today and yep, the green tint was definitely there, more teal actually. I saw it in the snow. And I was one of those who saw it in the event screenings a couple weeks ago too. And it definitely did not have that teal to the white snow as snow was definitely white.
Well I decided to see what my settings were for my set and as always it was set for the movie/cinema setting and it's color temp was cool. I turned it to "normal" and suddenly the teal was gone. Snow was white as it should have been. My guess can only be that when the movie was color timed it was to accommodate such a setting. But simply changing it to Normal viewing made an incredible difference to me. My set is the VIZIO XVT553SV LED Full Array and my Blu-ray Player is the Oppo BDP-83SE Last edited by Harlock415; 07-02-2011 at 08:37 AM. |

Now, I don't mean for this to come off too harsh, but, because you can't get a satisfactory answer from all the reviewers and WB itself, the forum members, like myself, who have no issue with FOTR owe you some answer? Who exactly are you? Do get over yourself and move on if you can't accept what's been put before you as facts and analysis. Last edited by Troy73; 07-02-2011 at 09:39 AM. |

In fact, I'm reasonably sure that I, myself, have described FOTR as "horrible." Three reasons why... 1. It's green. 2. It's GREEN. 3. IT'S F'ING GRRRREEEEEEEENNNNNNN!!!!!! |

Your post is the exact example of why this discussion keeps circling. You bring nothing but one sided complaining to the thread. The green tint is one issue, black crush is another. Another forum member spotted a "white hair" that you have to go frame by frame to even see. I mean who does this crap? I watch my movies in "play" mode not "pause," "play," "pause"...After reading these asinine posts that's when I roll my eyes and go WTF? Not because the issues don't exist but because people are going out of their way to find problems. If you look hard enough at anything flaws can be found, even if their only perceived flaws by a few individuals. Last edited by Troy73; 07-02-2011 at 11:28 AM. |

Really?....I mean Really? That's like saying the reason there are airbags in cars is because people don't wear seat belts. The reality is technology advances and becomes better and better. The case in this thread is you have members who are upset because this transfer is not what they wanted it to be and they harshly critique it.
