You can't fully restore what is lost in the original image due to the color processing. It's not that the color manipulation can be reversed without any trace. It's always a lossy process so if you go back and forth you get something close to the original but not quite. These 'fixed' images can only serve to show how the colors would be if the tint wasn't there but they come always at the price of some quality loss.

Aside from that, no, it doesn't look any more or less film-like. It's still a screenshot and the green image looks as much like a screenshot as the other two. From single images it's impossible to deduce how film-like it will appear in motion.

Why all the debate if Peter Jackson did all the editing an wanted it this way
why argue yes everyone has a certain view on the restoration but this is how he wanted to do it...

So why not say that's cool he's the director this was his intention, man its not like he put a fake Jabba the hut in the movie then I could see a complaint then.

Its sad this post is just becoming

Of course! No one has any right to complain about this set until they've wasted $80 on it!

It speaks to credibility my friend. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Indeed. Like I would buy a car knowing that it has some kind of construction defect the manufacturer is unwilling to fix.

See above. Why should I buy any kind of merchandise that I consider to be defective? That'd be utterly stupid and only make the manufacturer even less willing to do something about it. Yes, sure, it makes perfect sense!

Because

a) I still don't believe it as long as we don't get more than a lame PR press statement.

and

b) even if it was his decision I think it still destroys much of the film and I feel like complaining about it.

and

c) because I'm not the kind of person that listens to every dimwit out telling me to shut up just because he doesn't like what I have to say.

Oh, and congratulations for rebooting the discussion again to the mud-throwing stage.

Exactly, but now ask yourself in all honesty, if you invested nothing into it, even though you may be disappointed, how much complaining and whining would you do? Now look back on some of the posts you've read and consider what I'm saying.

dude no mud throwing here relax your are entitled to your view
on the film I'm just saying If this is at least some of what PJ wanted why
not say ok?

Cause would you rather have two no name people do a restoration
an really mess these films up then have to wait even longer for a new release?

Why hasn't something been done with a couple of these guys already? There have been many others who have done much less and got the treatment. This Murks guy is an agitator along with several of his supporters. If you can't read that with his/their incessant posts this is never going to end. Now people are dimwits in his eyes and he turns around and says now look what others have started.

You are saying that I'm supposed to give up my rights as a customer to voice my displeasure with a product. And that's bad.

Yes, I already sent a complaint to both WB and PJ. If it has an effect, great, if not, well shame on them.

I freely admit that the chance of something happening is very slim but it's still better than just giving up, admitting defeat and doing nothing. That will have no result whatsover for certain.

I really don't get it. What's your stake in this discussion? You already admitted that you like the set so be happy with it. Why make it so much harder for those who are not?

Yes, right! Something needs to be done about the agitators that constantly tell those who are dissatisfied to shut up. They are not contributing anything to the discussion at all, except trolling.

What am I doing that's making it harder for you? I think it's high time we spotlight some of these forum members who are here only to keep arguing. Yet you find what I'm doing is making it hard on you.....Interesting.
