Okay, these are some screencaps from the now infamous scene in the mountains, taken directly from the blu-ray, that i've applied the same filter to to remove the constant green tint. Don't you guys that say they like the green tint think these look more 'correct' colourwise than the blu-ray? Wouldn't you prefer the blu-ray to look more like these screencaps? Apologies in advance for the size of these.

I want to find out if it helps more people. Please if you have time, give it a try, and let us know your results. Remember to note the Hue setting before you start so that you can go back to it! If more people find this makes the FOTR EE movie look more accurate even with the new black levels, and color-timing, the green-tint issue may actually be an incorrect default Hue on the Blu-ray. Also, this may explain why some do not notice the green-tint at all -- in those cases their Hue setting may have been "wrong" to begin with. Last edited by DarkDune; 07-05-2011 at 02:09 PM. |

I prefer the look that Peter Jackson intended. Simple as that. The current bluray looks great. Green tint and all. I don't necessarily thing looking "all natural" makes it look "all better" Rivendell looks sooo much better with the new tint. This is my ONLY post in this thread today, I don't want to restart the whole cycle once again. Last edited by MerrickG; 07-05-2011 at 02:16 PM. |

When the picture is in motion it looks great. My set is professionally calabrated and I see no need to mess with it. I would rather see the artists intent. We have the WHV issued statement that it is as intended by the director. And until we hear otherwise from PJ directly we need to assume it is. You all can thrash around with setings all you want and tory to reverse engineer what the changes were. But that does not alter what we do know. And if you are making your judgements without seeing the film in motion then you are not judging as intended. The brain precieves things like color differently when pictures are in motion as opposed to stills. Since the changes are inteneded for the picture in motion, judging it in any other context is innaccurate. |

It's just easy to swap homophones when typing quickly and most people don't bother proofreading forum posts. I certainly don't. I have to proofread things nearly everyday for work, so I'm not wasting my time on that shit when posting online. Especially since typos have the added benefit of annoying people like you.... Quote:
![]() Those changes Bob mentioned I'm all indifferent toward. I don't think they're better than the book, but nor do they bother me or lessen my opinion of the movies as they work fine in telling the movie's story despite changing the tone of scenes/character from the book. |

Yes it does matter. Words mean things. And there are folks that don't have English as their main language and it can make it difficult for them to understand what we are saying. It's lazy attitudes like that make it easy for non-English speaking people to look down on us.

My biggest pet peeve is people who overuse the word "myself." Its a reflexive pronoun, only used when one is taking action upon ones own self... WAY TOO MANY people use it when they should just be using the word "me"
BUT! Thats beside the point. My main point is that I watched completely the new Fellowship this weekend... and I have to say that almost all of it looks AMAZING!!! The detail is wonderful. BUT! There definitely IS an issue (IMO of course) with crushing blacks in most of Moria, and the green/teal/cyan tint is UNBEARABLE in a few scenes. There are even times where in one shot, the snow looks fine but then in others its completely changed... very inconsistent. Then pop in TTT and BOOM beautiful white snow! YAY! I'm not going to let it bother me as the good FAR outweighs the bad in the new release, just seems a bit inconsistent at times, and I personally wish it had not been changed (except maybe the Rivendell scene, never too much cared for the overly RED bright tint to that scene) |
