Question

In Fellowship, where the Elves surround the fellowship, I recall one of the elves saying "The dwarf was so loud, we could've shot him in the dark."

On the EE blu, all I could hear was "So loud, we could have shot him in the dark"

Is there something wrong with my set? Or am I remembering it wrong?

yet this transfer got 4.5 in PQ
I am quite certain it is not a mistake or PJ would have said something rigth after warner made their announcement saying there is no mistake to correct them.

Again, you're assuming. Just because Jackson didn't say something (he is busy with The Hobbit after all) doesn't mean that the presentation of Fellowship isn't a mistake. Comparing it to a screenshot of Source Code doesn't mean anything at all, nor does mentioning the review on its quality.

Scream 2 got high marks on quality, too, which I felt was highly undeserved.

EDIT: The review of Source Code even mentions the cold feeling you get from the presentation. Which is funny that a shot of Source Code is being used as possible proof of Fellowship being accurate, considering that many people said that the green overlay doesn't affect the emotional perception of the film.

And you can't fault a transfer for artistic intent, whether you like it or not.

I hope for the same thing Joe! After watching ROTK last night and TT last weekend, the green tinted FOTR just looks out of place. I kept thinking again last night how awesome Fellowship would look if not for the tint when you see just how good the other two films look. It would be great to see all the new color timing changes without the tint as well since there is no doubt this is having a negative impact. The shire scenes toward the end of ROTK were certainly a glimpse of how good the shire scenes could have looked if the mute green tint was removed in Fellowship. I am more confident then ever that this was a mistake after watching TT and ROTK.......the green tint flat out makes no logical sense IMO once you view the other two films. Fellowship looks out of place in comparison to my eyes all due to this ugly mute like tint.

ROTK was just as awesome as I remember it though from the audio standpoint! This is easily one of the very best overall audio tracks on blu IMO......WOW! Such a powerful film experience with audio playing a big part in this. I loved once again the use of LFE as it never missed its mark, was subtle when needed, foundation rocking when needed and everything in between. I was getting all choked up at the end during the extended (and awesome IMO) conclusion.

Overall great set and glad I bought it, but it could and should have been better without the green tint. I am guessing next release will fix this error if not before and I look forward to that day since FOTR is my favorite of the three films and deserves to be seen in all its untainted glory!

You're assuming that Fellowship was presented as intended.

And you and others are assuming it is not, so what is the difference?

I don't mean just for Fellowship. I just mean in general. Because it seems some people are looking at other trends like this lately and saying, 'and that was given a high score? Yeesh.'

Oh, and as the guy above me said... everyone needs to still realize that ALL of us are making some sort of assumption here. No matter what side of the fence we're on.

The number of reviews at wbshop has increased from 7 to 54. A handful of them mention the green tint. I believe you have to be a member to post a review.

You are remembering correctly, the line is "The Dwarf breathes so loudly, we could have shot him in the dark." I watched my copy of FotR last night, and that line was present and accounted for. You must have simply misheard, or perhaps there is an issue with your current audio setup.

I second that it's on the set. That's a pretty classic line, and more people would have mentioned it if this were the case. I heard mine as plain as day when I watched this

As of right now it is! WB has issued a statement saying that it was intent. Unless we hear different. Why are people still having this tiresome debate! It has been going on for the last 2000 pages!

I can accept the possibility of it being an intended thing. I just don't think the facts really point that way, WHV's PR statement notwithstanding.

And we do have common ground. We all seem to think the other two movies are great and we all think that certain scenes look better in FOTR EE than in the TE version. I simply don't think it's accurate to say that there's a consensus on both sides that the green tint ought to be given credit for any of the FOTR EE improvements.

Take care,
HeKS
