That would be great as well! 2 discs per film and 6.1 or 7.1 discrete audio!

I'd rather not have that if they're all on one disc per movie. I can still easily enough stop in the middle if I want to, and I'd rather not have a built in intermission to break up the movie if I want to watch it all in one sitting.

I personally don't care much one way or the other about whether they're on 1 or 2 discs. I'm not much of a videophile (love Blu Ray and HD, but I'm not that picky about A/V stuff beyond liking HD) and also don't mind walking the 6 feet or whatever to change discs if it's split.

& 9.4 LPCM audio!

No, really I would prefer 1 disc per movie if it doesn't hurt the quality. I have never manufactured my own blu-ray and don't really know all the technical specifications involved with the process. I have a basic understanding of the codecs involved, and know when something looks and sounds good, but I'll buy it regardless of whether it's 1 or 2 discs. That's just not that big of a deal to me.

I do really hope it's 7.1 audio though, and I hope they can clean up The Fellowship a little.

I thought Children of Hurin was great and frankly I think that's the next film after the Hobbit that should have been made into a movie!

It was semi-confirmed a week or so ago, with a stipulation that it was dependent on his health.

Also rumored before that he wouldn't travel to NZ for it, and they'd have to come to him his scenes on a green screen etc.

Yea, it was pretty much confirmed last week. He said, health permitting, he would most likely be returning. And that is good news to me

Definitely getting these movies. Not interested in waiting until 2012. There will always be a better and more ultimate set out there planned for movies like this so get the best version (extended cut) and enjoy. Can't wait.

I also didn't know Jackson took over as Director of the new movies. Sweet! I'm happy about that.

Yup, you definitely made out better by spending that money on 10,000 BC or the High School Musical trilogy.

I bought the LOTR single blu's, but only because i got all 3 for $15 total.

Hopefully the EEs DO come out this year and are technically excellent.

Great news for those of you who held out hoping for these! I'll pass since the TEs are fine for me, but the EEs were excellent on DVD.

I'll actually not mind having both. I owned both on DVD because sometimes I wanted to watch some LOTR but didn't want to watch the 12 hour version.

When they came out years ago on DVD, I was in law school without a wife and kids, and had all the time in the world. I would've watched Extended Extended Super Dooper Extended Editions.

Now? It already takes me 2-3 nights to complete some movies, so I'm fine with the shorter versions. It doesn't take anything away from the greatness of the EEs, and obviously: to each his own.

Yep - and there isnt anything wrong wiht this approach. My brother actually mostly prefers the TE's so I'll buy the EE's and we can swap at anytime or borrow whatever we want to watch.

I still think the Two Towers TE is a better film and paced better than the EE but thats just me. The other two, Id rather watch the EE's.

Either way - COOL!

I am in the same boat. It took me a week just to watch the TE versions when I got them last month. I watch TV/movies/whatever from about 9:30PM - 11:00PM, barring no interruptions from the 3 year old or 1 month old.
