Nothing can come from further speculations surrounding the green tint, so please move to different topics.

I feel that if Jackson himself addresses the issue, it will still be a bone of contention for many here, but at least at that time there will be something new to be discussed rather than the same dead horse being beaten to a pulp.

I think for now everything that needs to be said about the "green tint" has been said. A 100 times over.

So no need to mention green, unless something new comes up.

Not sure if you understood my post.....and again, I con't confirm this as I don't have the EE's yet. But I read that you have the option to watch anyone of the 3 movies by watching the chapters relevent to that one storyline in a row (Frodo and Sam), instead of some chapters being thrown in and the movie bouncing around from Frodo and Sam, to Rohan, back to Frodo and Sam, then onto Pippen and Merry, etc....I think this would be a very cool way to watch the movies, as it would allow you to be better engrossed into that storyline/characters by being uninterrupted......

I agree that it would be a great way to watch the movies as well.

I was going to point something out to a post that was under this but it disappeared, which is kind of what I was going to point out to the poster, lol.

So based on this would we see the storylines be described as:
Frodo and Sam
Merry and Pippin
Aragorn / Legolas / Gimli

Because while in TTT I can see how that would work, given the branch Merry and Pippin take from each other in RotK it may get confusing.

Yes it would be confusing, but you would be following the storyline, not the characters themselves. Therefore, there would be different characters in different chapters for each movie.

I assume this feature was new to the TEs on BD and was never an option for either TE or EE on the DVD's?

I don't know, I only read about it in another forum relevant to the EE's. I have the TE's on blu and I can say I am not aware of it being a possible option......

I understood your post. I own and have watched both the TE and EE BD's and there is no branching on any of them. The Appendices give you an option of 'watch all' or 'watch selectively' by clicking on the index. (If/when you get the EE BDs, I recommend the Appendices be watched via the index, selectively. If you 'play all', many sketches, photos, etc. will not be seen. The interactive feature that was accessible when the DVD EEs were released no longer operates.)

Each disk case has a booklet, There are two pages in the booklets (for pt1 and pt 2 of each movie) titled 'Select A Scene' where all scenes are listed including the asterisked scenes I noted in my earlier post. Someone may have thought that the scenes could be played selectively by branching. This is not the case. Also, it would be really cumbersome to accomplish that on a scene by scene (chapter by chapter) basis, since in many chapters nearly all the storylines are being covered.

I will further inquire where I read that and see if I can get a better explanation of what he claimed.......

For those of you having issues with missing menus on the EE disks. I have just been in touch with Sony by phone and the issue has been referred to their technical staff:

(email to Sony Tech Support)
Jeffrey,

Case ID 1652581

My BDP-S570 is connected to the internet and was updated to Software version M04.R.752 long before I experienced this issue with the WB Lord of the Rings Blu-ray disks. That is the latest update available for the BDP-S570. You need to get the information provided to whomever prepares updates for disk issues. The disks perform perfectly on my PS3. All menus appear correctly, so the issue is not with the disks, it is with the player. The same problem has been reported by owners of earlier Sony model players as well. This is an urgent matter. People think the disks or players are defective and are attempting to return them. Please see these complaints:

http://www.amazon.com/Disc-2-Not-wor...7H20&store=dvd

I have posted a temporary work around on blu-ray.com where many have posted the same problem:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-pl...ml#post4912737

Please maintain Case ID 1652581 for this issue. I have asked others to report this issue to you for other Sony players affected by it:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...ml#post4950157

I'm trying not to be redundant, but if you have a Sony player other than a BDP S 570, it would be helpful if you report it to Sony to get them to move along with the fix.

Finally had a chance to watch the second disc for Return of the King. I'm glad I got this set. I'll wait a while until I watch it again. Maybe I'll try to marathon it next time! (I tried once before and failed miserably.)

It can be daunting. As good as this trilogy is I don't think I could last through back to back EE editions. I tried it once with the TE cuts and got about 2/3 through TT and called it a night.

Yea, man. I actually started at about 10am on a Saturday. I finished Fellowship and decided I needed a break so I went out and grabbed lunch. When I came back I popped in The Two Towers and watched one disc. Took a break and finished the other. By then it was almost 9pm so I decided to stop. If I watched Return that night I would have finished around 2 or 3am. For those of you who did complete the Extended Edition marathons in one sitting, rock on.

Getting through the entire trilogy in one day is tough, I've never been able to accomplish it myself.

I have done it twice now The trick is to start first thing in the morning and clear your schedule for that day
