Liam Neeson
Colin Farrell
Hugo Weaving
Micheal Caine
Helen Mirren
Sam Worthington
Jason Statham
Clive Owen
Cate Blanchete
Ewan McGregor

all UK and arguably A-List.

To add to the list:

Jim Broadbent
Michael Gambon
Dame Maggie Smith
Gary Goldman
Peter OTool
Richard Harris
Alan Rickman
Ralph Fiennes
Jason Isaccs
Helena Bonham Carter
Bill Nighy
Sir Alec Guinness
All are/were A-list actors/actresses in my book and the list could go on.

Cate Blanchete is Australian and Hugo Weaving is Nigerian.

You're right. Sam Worthington is from NZ/Aus so I guess he's out too. Hey, I tried.

Well, I watched the Fellowship for the very first time yesterday (I have watched the TE, though that has been several years ago). The green tint is of course there (some scenes worse than others), using the warm setting on my tv seemed to improve it a bit. Overall quite pleased with it, the detail is very good.

The AQ was great, good definition and the bass was quite heavy (didn't expect that it would be Gandalf who was going to rock the room ).

Nice try, but those are B list at best.
A list means they can open a movie just on name alone.

You seem to be qualifying A-list by whether they're part of the US-specific celebrity system, and whether your average American would recognise their name. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it is a distinction from a very subjective perspective, and of course the celebrity list doesn't necessarily map onto the list of quality acting abilities.

A bit of hair-splitting there, Nut. He moved here to Oz when he was very young, and did all his schooling here. Sam considers himself an Aussie.

Well, no it's not. Where you're born is where you're born. Hugo Weaving moved from Nigeria when he was little, but that doesn't change the fact that he was born in Nigeria.

Sure, but the question isn't simply about where they were physically born, as if nothing else formative had happened since. In terms of acting styles and abilities, surely what's significant is the culture a specific actor grew up in and the styles and manner of expression he/she learnt. In terms of acting styles and cultural mannerisms, Weaving is Australian, not Nigerian.

A lot of people termed American actors and actresses were physically born elsewhere as well. That doesn't prevent their being considered American now.

I know the U.S. and U.K. versions don't have it, but you might want to check the German version. I am seriously doubting it though because most BDs don't have Croatian subtitles.

I know... most of them don't have it, but special editions like this usually do. Bought few weeks ago SW collectors BD edition in store and it had CRO subtitles. Usually they put Croatian, Slovenian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, etc subtitles on one edition and then it goes on our market... ahhh well... I hope they will make such edition!

He's really not that great. I am didn't really like him in Terminator: Salvation or Clash of the Titans, but he's not awful either. My biggest beef with him is that he mumbles half of his lines. Thank God for subtitles.
