How does the situation look in the case of the DVD's? Are they Region Free or R1.

I remember that this was the same case with the Matrix Trilogy. The DVD's are Region Free.

If you're talking about the DVDs that the extra features are on they should be region free since New Line is owned by Warner.

Should be or are. Most sites state that they are R1. Can anyone with a Region 2/B player confirm this.

Wow, I didn't most of the world's best actors were British / European. Quite a list there.

He's really not that great. I am didn't really like him in Terminator: Salvation or Clash of the Titans, but he's not awful either. My biggest beef with him is that he mumbles half of his lines. Thank God for subtitles.
I like him, but he seems to be typecast as a character who struggles with his humanity.

Terminator Salvation - "I'm a Terminator, but...but I'M A MAN!"

Avatar - "I'm a Navi, but...but I'M A MAN!"

Clash Of The Titans - "I'm the son of Zeus, but...but I'M A MAN!"

Personal druthers: for now, rather than see a remake of Lord of the Rings, I'd dearly love to see Stephen Donaldson's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant filmed, maybe as an HBO-quality TV mini-series. I know it owes a debt to Tolkien (what modern fantasy work doesn't?! ), but that doesn't stop it from being a damned fine conception in its own right.
Agree - theres so much Peter Jackson (eventually!) got right with the trilogy that I certainly cant complain, Im not sure they could be better.

And I would LOVE to see Chronicles of Thomas Covenant made in the same style as Game of Thrones. Whilst I really like the Game of Thrones books (havent seen the series yet but I heard its very good), the Covenant books are better for me. God only knows how they'd translate to film. The first book is rather slow (the second book is my favourite of the whole lot!).

Perhaps its got a chance given the success of Game of Thrones. Trouble is, not too many people know about the Thomas Covenant books from what Ive experienced.

Finally arrived in the mail today after ordering a month ago.

Also, looks like Jackson's weight has gone way up again on the set of The Hobbit. The stress of making these movies must do something to him.

I like overweight Peter Jackson movies more than skinny Peter Jackson movies.

Haha not quite to me. Everytime I see Lucas' neck I throw up in my mouth. It's disgusting.

Just a heads up that the EEs are on sale for $54.99 at Futureshop and $64.99 at Best Buy in Canada.
I just bough the Alien Anthology for $47.99 at Best Buy and had them PM the Futureshop on LotR EEs.

Indeed. He looked demented when he was skinny, too.

If they were selling it for $25, then whoever pawned it to begin with was seriously ripped off. I feel a little sorry, for whoever got placed in that position.

Must be thinking of Colin Farrell.
Back on topic though, seems like this (The lord of the rings extended bluray) is now available for 49.99, anyone else considering buying it now. I've managed to hold out so far, I have it already on regular dvd and also the theatricals on bluray (Target typo mistake black friday 2010 7.99)
There are 2 reasons I have not gotten this so far and I consider myself to be a big fan of the trilogy, and they are as follows.
1: The movie companies annoying habit of rereleasing double triple dipping, whatever you wanna call it, of this trilogy, The only extra material available on this set is the costa botes documentaries. I think its pretty obvious Peter Jackson WAS NOT involved with this release, If he was there would definitely have been new material such as deleted scenes, the hilarious bloopers that were shown at certain conventions a few years ago or maybe a new documentary.
2: Yes, the green tint thing that alot of people seem to be complaining about, definitely putting me off
I am now predicting there will be 2, yes 2 more releases of this trilogy ON BLURAY within the next 2 years, firstly individual extended releases and then some kind of anniversary thing to tie in with the Hobbit movie. In fact, screw it, now that i think more of it, I think I'll wait
