WB is the WORST at that...
I'm sure there will be separate day and date releases for both parts of The Hobbit though. Let's just hope they have slipcovers.

Yeah, I don't know why, but drives me batty when I see a menu that says Ice tea instead of Iced Tea... why don't you just abbreviate it to Ice-T instead, then we can at least have a P-I-M-P PIMP while we wait...

So who will be doing a marathon on Christmas day/boxing day with these?

I will be home and have both days off and not going anywhere. Will just keep it easy and what them again for the second time
I did watch all three in a couple days when I first got the set, but I may tackle them again. I plan to watch all 6 Star Wars films over the Christmas break as well as Jurassic Park trilogy. I watched the Back to the Future trilogy last year and I might watch that again as well. I'm off from December 22nd through January 1st.

Thanks. Something about that didn't seem right.

Me, for sure.

Not sure how it was in other countries, but here in OZ all three of these films premiered on Boxing Day (that's the holiday we have on December 26th), so I associate these flicks with that time of year.

How better to spend Boxing Day than with cherries and wine and boiled pudding with brandied cream, deep in Middle Earth?!

Over here (Canada) I think they open about a week to 10 days before Christmas. The reason I do a Christmas/boxing day marathon is in 2004 after the release of Return Of The King extended I did just that on Christmas day, watched all three movies. It's become a sort of tradition

Yeah, for the last 10 years I instinctively feel like I should be watching a Lord of The Rings movie at Christmas time.

Probably because each film was released at Christmas in 2001, 2002, and 2003.

I have no interest in a complete box set with The Hobbit. I think the original trilogy should stand alone. Plus no way would I double dip again for all films in one set.

I paid $75 for the EE set and $4 each for the theatrical versions at the 5 for $20 Blockbuster sale a couple months ago. That comes to nearly $90 I've spent on LOTR on BD. I am not about to double dip on a a massive set so I'll wait until there are individual releases of both parts of The Hobbit.

I got TE's for $7.99 on BF 2010 = $24. Waited on the EE's until the price was right ending up with a PM at BB for Fry's $39.99. Used an $8 GC and sold the digital copies for $10= $25. $50 for both editions and I have my DVD set on eBay.

I'm still hoping they'll release the extended editions by themselves without all the special feature DVDs, I have the EE's on DVD already, why would I pay that much for the same stuff in the same format?

plus I still think they have enough space to put the whole movie on one disc each, having to switch them out to finish one movie makes it less appealing. If nothing else they can take off the commentary and have that exclusive to the sets.

Having an intermission for a 3+ hour film is not a bad idea. You do pee in the toilet right?

I too bought the Theatricals for $7.99 ea on BF 2010. I PM at BB for Fry's $39.99 for the EEs. I sold the Theatricals for $25. I sold my Theatrical DVDs for $5 dollars a piece. I still have TT Ext DVD for sale.

I must say it was well worth the upgrade for the Blu-ray EEs. They are great to watch.

I agree. I like the LOTR set as it is. I'd rather have the Extended LOTR set and a Hobbit set (hopefully extended. I'm sure there will be an extended version)

Never had TE DVD's. So it was worth it to get them on BD. I think I'll hang onto them as sometimes I like watching a faster pace version of the film. But really the only good one is Two Towers. Fellowship has a really bad transfer compared to the EE's and ROTK just feels too thin in the battle sequences.
