I was really making an indirect point about what one assumes is a fact to base an argument on, especially if one is going to go so far as to call someone else delusional for their perspective on the matter. |

You shouldn't have to adjust settings on a properly calibrated set for one film out of a trilogy and then adjust it back for the other discs. It's not a problem with his set, it's a problem with the disc. This has been debunked ad nauseam since summer, let's not be obstinate about this all over again. |

Well, I'll add my 2 cents, even though it's nothing new.
I finally got around to watching FOTR on my 50" plasma that is not professionally calibrated and.. I didn't notice a thing. I'm sure the green tint is there but it was neither distracting or noticeable to my eyes. In fact, I though the picture looked outstanding. In my opinion this is a lot to do about nothing. |

No one can ever convince me that Two Towers EE is somehow vastly superior to the TE. I much prefer the TE this time over the EE. FOTR is a tie where both versions are paced well. An overall flawless film that can be watched no matter the version. ROTK is the one EE that is superior to the TE. Even for just the simple fact of learning Saramons fate. Part 1 & 3 yes. But having recently watched the Two Towers, the first time since seeing it in theaters, I prefer the TE just for that film.

My only complaints are the Ents extended scenes and Grima spitting on Aragorns hand. ROTK had good and bad scenes but the good outweigh the bad. We needed those extra battle scenes to make the ending more epic. We didn't need a skull waterfall.

The two versions are a perfect balance:
Theatrical - For newcomers who may not wind up getting into the lore of LOTR. Extended - For people who like character development, hardcore fans and those that wish to become such. |

Well if you're odd, Aquel, then I am too, in the same way. I love going on a journey with a film, so I won't watch one (LotR or otherwise) if I have to watch it in bits.

I'm not a hardcore fan; in fact, I've never read the books (aside from a brief skim through "Two Towers" as a teen). Until the films came out, I knew very little about the story, and what I've learned mostly comes from Wikipedia and the Appendices.

Bottom line: I saw both versions. They're ok but I prefer the TE for repeat viewing. And they don't do justice to the books, but that's a given. |
