This whole green tint debate put me off of buying the trilogy for awhile. Fellowship is by far my favorite film and the most watched DVD on my shelf, and part of that is because of it's gorgeous, natural colors. Lots of greens and golds and browns (compared to the dismal greys and blues of the sequels). The idea of a "blanket tint" seemed haphazard, and the screenshots indeed looked appalling, and people were complaining about lost detail.
Well, I found a good price and bought it last week with the intention of reselling it. But it looks ![]() Anyhow, for those who are still on the fence and actually watch motion pictures (as opposed to pausing them to pick out flaws), you will not be disappointed in this set. The sequels look outstanding as well, of course. |

I am not a fan of box sets and have been waiting years for the individual EE blu-rays with slip covers to be released and they finally are in a few weeks! Cannot wait to get them, and the coverart looks amazing!
(The debate earlier in the thread about why anyone would buy the new individual EEs over the EE box set when it would work out more expensive for me is irrelavent.) Just a few questions though if anyone wouldn't mind answering! 1) I live in the UK and as far as i am aware they are only being released in the US. Does anyone know of any sites i can buy from which would ship to the UK? and will they definately work in the UK on my PS3? 2) Also i'm pretty sure they are slip covers they are coming with, but does anyone know what size they are etc? I hope they will be just regular sized versions, although if they have 5 discs in each maybe they are a bit thicker? (the UK EE box set were really thick blue jumbo cases..yuk!) 3)I have only ever seen the theatrical versions of the 3 films. Do the EE have loads more scenes?? how many more minutes extra would you say? im quite excited by this! 4) what is black friday which everyone seems to be mentioning? Thanks very much! Jay ![]() |

1.) I believe you can order directly from amazon.com as they do ship internationally, though I'm not sure what kind of additional fees that may incur. 1b.) As these are region free the Blu-rays should definitely work on your system. The DVD's included however will likely not work. 2.) There should be slipcovers, and I'm assuming the case underneath will be just a little bit thicker than a standard US BD case (which are much thinner than the UK ones) 3.) The extended versions definitely have a lot more scenes. Fellowship is about 30 minutes longer, Two Towers about 40 mins longer, and ROTK about 50 mins longer. 4.) Black Friday is always the day after Thanksgiving in November. It's probably the most popular shopping day of the year and usually the day with the biggest discounts of the year as well. It's also followed by "Cyber Monday" which is similar but online only. Amazon usually has deals for the entire week nowadays though Last edited by MifuneFan; 08-13-2012 at 05:50 PM. |

From personal experience the WB DVDs issued in the US the past few years have been regoin encoded for regions 1-4. Unless this practice has changed lately there shouldn't be any problem viewing the DVDs.

These are the same discs that came with the original DVD release of the extended versions though, and even if they were region 1-4, won't there be a problem with NTSC vs. PAL???

All our BD- and DVD-players handle NTSC just as well as PAL. As opposed to the American market we're not as handicapped in that regard.

Matt Wood says of his choice to do a 6.1 mix for Star Wars, ""We did have the chance to go back and do (the remixes however we wanted), and we chose 6.1 as the format because that was for us on the prequels... 5.1 EX was what we used, and it had that back center surround and that for us is a nice 360-degree feel, and we wanted to have everything sort of match that. And this is just personal with me, but with 7.1, the separation in the back and the sides kind of diffuses the back, so I kind of like having just a discrete feel in the back with 6.1." |
