So stop spreading F.U.D. about a technology which you obviously have no interest in. ON TOPIC: Give me everything in 3D, including LOTR! Converted or native, I'm all for it enhancing my viewing experience! Last edited by Petra_Kalbrain; 08-21-2012 at 01:56 AM. |

Hahaha, I came into this thread for opinions on LOTR. Glad to get at least one.
![]() Regarding 3D...personally, I watch movies for the story. I'm not paying extra if I'm getting the same story. The end. If I want a superficial effect, I'll go to an amusement park. But that's just me. I know many people these days don't watch moves for story. Last edited by Falconer; 08-21-2012 at 03:01 AM. |

Sure it is. Do I need glasses to see three dimensions outside of a movie? No, I don't. Enhancing your experience? That's a joke if I have ever read one. Let's just go ahead get the smell-o-vision and motion seats while we are at it. ![]() 2D should be left alone, period. |

Ah... so this is you admitting that you have been stating opinions and not facts? I freely admitted that it's all subjective, did I not? I don't see how you pointing out that I'm knowingly talking about opinions is a problem which requires criticism. The point I'm trying to make is that you seem to be on an unreasonable crusade against the format when it isn't necessary. You keep spouting opinions as facts. I keep trying to maintain the option as an open-minded endeavour for anyone who has yet to experience it. Stop spreading the F.U.D. regarding 3D. You've said your peace. Now leave the topic alone and let the thread get back on track!!!!!! |

I'm glad you enjoyed it, but a blanket tint has been scientifically confirmed by other members. No surprise that it look better than DVD... I don't think many people have claimed that it doesn't.

The only thing I like on the individual releases is the cover for the Fellowship. I am fine with my extended cut trilogy in one set.
3D to me is a gimmick and I do not want it, I like my story and I will only watch the 3D if the movie is shot in 3D, I didn't have to buy the ticket, or it is part of a special ala the Avengers six movie screening. |

I'm always amazed when I read this forum. Specifically today I'm amazed at how we allow for some alterations to film and bash others. Do I need Casablanca in 3-D? Is it really needed? Will it improve that film?
I also find it interesting that people don't seem to mind as much when the audio is changed, mono or stereo tracks converted to 5.1 and 7.1 as they do picture ratio changes. The argument there is that it changes the composition of the scenes and their effect. But, 3-D doesn't? Very interesting conclusions. Having an opinion about liking 3-D or not is fine. However, talking out of both sides of your mouth when defending it in regards to altering the original intent is ridiculous. Of course it changes the intent of the film. Your preference for that change not withstanding. In the case of LOTR I feel a 3-D transfer is not needed. However, if Peter Jackson decides he wants it and the market is there to support it so be it. |
