Well I tryed looking through all the arguments but to no avail so:
I shouldn't buy the current LOTR Extended edition set because of color issues? It sounds pretty bad since there are about 50+ pages of people mentioning it. I should buy the upcoming Aug 28th Extended edition singles? (I was planning on these because the cover art. I currently have no copies of LOTR) Theres no difference between the set and the Aug 28th singles are there but coverart? Thanks ![]() |

FOTR does have a bit of teal tint to it throughout, plus it has a bit darker contrast overall which I don't care as much for. It also has some scene specific reworked color timing that is completely seperate from the overall teal tint, and a much better transfer quality as far as detail, depth, and clarity. The new scene specific color timing is kind of hit or miss for me, but the new tranfer has so much more detail, when it isn't being black crushed in the darkest scenes. I would honestly say that the good outweighs the bad, but the bad does still bug me. One thing that kind of gets left out of the discussions/arguments is that the audio is just insanely amazing on all of these. I guess one reason is that pretty much everybody agrees on that one thing. As far as the discs themselves, the boxset and the upcoming single sets are exactly the same. With the boxset, you get the box and different artwork on the cases. In the singles, you get no box plus different artwork. |

So far this particular thread has provided absolutely NO information at all - except for confirmation of a green color shift. No important questions have been answered and it even seems as if Peter Jackson himself has put all of us on ignore.
![]() On a personal note, I was interested in finding out about special packaging for these extended individual BD releases. No response. ![]() I am done speculating whether or not Sam Wise has the hots for Merry. Mods, please lock this thread. Last edited by nycomet; 08-22-2012 at 07:25 AM. |

If you don't like what's being discussed, then don't visit those threads, or skip over the posts you're not interested in. If you're looking for some very specific information, then just use the advanced search tools. ![]() Edit: I just checked under news, and found this: "Warner's press release has not specified if these new sets offer additional A/V upgrades from the previously available fifteen-disc extended edition trilogy. The packages also contain all of the bonus supplements that the earlier edition had." https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=9018 Last edited by frogmort; 08-22-2012 at 04:38 AM. |

![]() Or as soon as the price comes down to a reasonable number. Haha. Do the bonus features even add to the price, at this point? They're just the same DVDs being thrown into every EE set. If not, then I might send an email to PJ or send a message to his FB asking for his advice. Who knows. I'm sure he glances at his inbox every so often. But I seriously doubt they have, or have any plans to. They've got away with it the first time by just ignoring objections, so why would they even mention it in the press release unless things had changed? |

I expect the case to be the same 5 disc Elite case that was used in the Extended box set. But I'm wondering if they'll use black again, or go with blue. I'd love for each one to have similar colors to what was used on the Extended DVD sets. I think FOTR was green, TTT red, and ROTK blue.

I am irritated that these new extended editions do not include a UV digital copy. There are 5 disks in each package and not even a digital copy download.
I still can't wait to get my hands on all 5 dicks sets, but I really wanted more. ![]() |

The item description on Amazon says that these come with a UV digital copy.
