If you don't want them bad enough to put a few dollars aside in order to save a few dollars, maybe you shouldn't be indulging in the Blu-ray hobby in the first place. You are making it sound more and more like your budget doesn't allow for it anyways if you literally have no disposable income at any given time.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you are content with your purchase (or lack thereof). You have proven yourself to be one of two people I've encountered over my 5 years as a member here that has deserved to be put on my ignore list. Farewell forever.

Laurent Bouzereau? I know the guy is fairly prolific, but he had nothing to do with these. The documentaries were created by a Kiwi filmmaker by the name of Costa Botes.

Oops. yes, you're right of course. Ta for the correction.

Still, I guess who made it isn't really the point. It's still a fairly hefty "making of".

On the topic of the documentary length and their presentation on DVDs:

The fact that the behind the scenes documentaries from the earlier DVDs have been put into the Blu-ray package is a phenomenally good thing, and no one should discount that just because they're not brand new or weren't shot in HD. The material on those discs amounts to the greatest supplemental material ever assembled for DVD/Blu-ray - and I'm not using hyperbole.

Could the material have been put on a single Blu-ray instead of the old 3 DVDs - yes, I grant you that. But it doesn't take away from the quality of the material - and it's great that those who are buying these versions for the first time will be able to experience what the documentaries have to offer.

Barnes and Noble has the individual releases for $20.99. I am going to try my luck with the 15% off coupons to see if I can get them lower.

Or get amazon to price match :-)

To be honest I don't think I've seen all the extras, I might have seen that a few years ago, I can't remember. It's just that there was so much behind & scenes & making-of stuff shot for this. A good documentury film maker could make a fantastic - from script, to design, to shooting, editing, special effects, right up to the final print - definitive documentury on how a film is made (& an epic film(s) at that). I hope it happends one day, it could easily be a four hour documentury.

But they've already done this - and it's stretches far beyond four hours. The Appendices on the Extended Editions are about as in-depth as you could possibly hope for, and span several hours for each separate film.

you said it much better (and kinder) then i ever could have. im sorry for losing my cool and everyone watching it. i just had a problem with the way he was going about addressing my "senario" as he called it. im glad he ignored me. now he wont ever respond to anything i have to say on this forum again and we can both be happy.

i stopped in at barnes and noble today hoping to find some of these and either my store doesnt have them or they werent put out yet. im sure at some point ill be able to pick these up for 20 dollars a piece or less.

Has anyone gotten these yet? Curious if they are slipcovers (case slides in from the top or bottom) or slipboxes (case slides in from one side), AND curious if they used the black cases from the trilogy set. Hoping so.

Gotta go with JJ on this one Petra. There are better ways of getting your point across without looking holier than thou. Something to remember in the future is we were all new to the forum once and there is no need to be disrespectful to one another. If a member wants to be them individually, that is there choice and personal preference. While you may be correct that it is cheaper to get the boxed set, the way you are presenting it isn't helping your argument. Because at the moment he's not the only one that needs to "lose the damn attitude.".

It says not in store and that $29.99 price is off the hook just for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

I could have sex with Liv Tyler for less than that!

Best Buy has them online, but it says "Store Pickup: Not Available."

Wal-mart has them online, but neither of the stores near me have them in stock.

For now, these seem to be an online exclusive (probably until the Hobbit movie money versions are available). I ordered FOTR from Barnes and Noble. If nobody gets it before I do, I'll let you know what it includes, packaging and transfer-wise.
