With that said, who double dipped for the theatrical and extended edition box sets? If so, that's a total of TWENTY ONE discs to own!

They Used the left picture (well almost the same) for the French Etended Edition Box set... Looks Great !

[Show spoiler]

Techincally - and pedantically - that first poster is the teaser poster for the trilogy rather than Fellowship of the Ring specifically. The one they used - the Argonath - is the teaser poster for Fellowship. And, in my opinion, it's much more beautiful than the teaser trilogy (as iconic as that is).

As for Return of the King I believe the plan was to use the Eye of Sauron artwork as the original teaser poster for the film - which fits in with the other two teaser posters (Argonath and Orthanc) in design - but, by the time Return rolled around, Aragorn had become such a breakout character that they went for that instead. I don't mind at all - he's the title character of that film and it brings it in a circle (or a ring, if you will) to the original trilogy teaser poster.

So they are the exact discs that were in the box set. So that means if I ordered Return Of The King I would most likely end up with two disc ones or two disc twos again. I am just going to watch my non-green DVD set with the correct discs.

Can somebody explain to me what happened with the releases of the Blu-Ray Lord of the Rings? I just want to get a box set of each version, theatrical and extended, like I have on DVD right now, but it seems that there are multiple versions of the theatrical box (and right now only the individual theatrical films are in stock on amazon) and the latest versions of the extended cuts are being sold individually and not in a box?

Thanks!

you can get both Theatrical & Extended films together in a box or individually now. I'm pretty sure both boxes are still availible, and all the singles are availible to!

What's the difference between the April 6th, 2010 and the April 16th, 2010 Theatrical Box Sets?

Is there a difference between the box sets and the individuals?

Same for the extended.. what are the other box sets doing on amazon? And are the new individual extended releases different in any way?

Given the price difference I'm tempted to go with the individuals for the theatrical cuts, as long as they are the same as what came in the box set (or better).

[Show spoiler]Can't post another picture right now, but they're color-coded like the old Extended Editions (green, red, blue).
Thank you for checking Randy.

I think the bigger problem is with the contrast. Hobbiton at the beginning used to be really bright and sunny. Now it looks kind of overcast. It's not a huge disaster and I don't think that most people would even notice much of a difference, but if you're very familiar with these films I think it becomes much more noticeable.

It's still a great film though, which I think is the most important thing. The audio is incredible too.

Ill aggree it does seem more of a contrast issue.
