Ah, you may be right. I just looked and there is no mention of the Digital Copies on the outside wrapper.

I created this image, for those curious. Source of 2011 image is Amazon. I scanned the 2012 one:

I only wish AMZ would drop the prices on the individual 5-disc releases.

Anyone who isn't going to use their UV copies I will happily take for use or buy them for $6, until they finally have the Blus for disc to digital that is.

Yeah the 39.99 price seems like an awesome deal and is if you can find the digital copy one. Otherwise I think the 49.99 price last year was better but that's just me

Can anyone confirm if the 2012 release has Russian subtitles?

If the extras are on DVD's, I assume that the extras will be region locked? I'm in the UK and fancy buying the US edition. Can anyone help?

I decided to go against it, it's only £8 cheaper and I wouldn't be able to watch the extras. Might just wait and see if Amazon.co.uk do it in their deals.

Damn, ordered this yesterday at BB.com cause I wasn't sure Amazon would PM, got free shipping but had to pay sales tax.. And Amazon ended up PM'ing the lightning deal.. tried to cancel my BB order but it is to late to cancel since the order is being prepared.. oh well, only $3.20 difference..

Not sure if I should get this for $46 delivered :/ Already have the theatrical set on bluray & the extended set on DVD, just finished watching the trilogy again last night on bluray for the first time

Last time I watched LOTR before last night was nearly 2 years ago! I'd probably watch the bonus features again if they were in HD but they're not

So only the bluray discs are region free?

Ok, so this may be slightly off-topic, but...

I just jumped at the BBY extended edition sale; I only had the theatrical editions on DVD before that, so I was due for the upgrade. I was toying with the idea of grabbing the theatrical editions on blu as well, but I don't need the extras (or the extra price) of the theatrical box set.

Is anyone familiar with this set:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Lord-Of-Th...creen/21805544

It's not catalogued on blu-ray.com; is it a Walmart exclusive? It looks like a barebones theatrical collection in one box (with acceptable cover art, I s'pose). Worth it to have these editions on blu for $12?

This has probably been mentioned before but what is the difference between the extended trilogy set released in 2011 and 2012? Just the lack of Digital Copies?

Which is the one on sale?

Forgive me if this was already posted in here, but I saw in another thread that Target has some exclusives out now that have just the extended edition films with no DVD extras, for those who didn't want to double dip on the bonus features:

If my copy comes with Digital Codes I'll PM them to you. Someone gave me UV codes in the past that I redeemed so I won't need them.

Forgive me, but has this been verified? Do we have screen caps to prove this?

No.

I've never even heard this suggested, so I'm not sure where it's coming from.
