I bet he thinks it's complete crack. The website's title on my tab said "Crackpot Theories" or something like that, so I think it's a bit of a farce.

I hope I'm not venturing to far off topic, but has anyone here read "The Road to Middle-Earth" by Tom Shippey? I noticed some were looking to learn more about the books. I've been reading it and the more I read the more Tolkiens genius come through. The man had a love and knowledge of words unlike anything I've ever seen. Its astounding. I, also, discovered something me and Tolkien have in common which was really cool. All around its a good book if anyone is interested in the deeper structures of this story and how it came to be. Warning, though, the first 50 pages are mostly setting up the ideas and can be dry in spots, but the rest is great stuff. Sorry if that was off topic.

Well it appears that the 'Extened Edtions' will be in theaters in June also along with the release of the Blu-rays.

- The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition) on June 14th 2011

- The Two Towers (Extended Edition) on June 21st 2011

- The Return of the King (Extended Edition) on June 28th 2011.

Now why the heck would they do that?

I only ordered one item, but I believe it could be used for an entire order.

I agree. AMC isn't in Canada - not in the majority of cities anyways. I'd love to be able to go see these in the local theater. There's nothing like LOTR on a big screen!

Just so everyone knows, Regal Cinemas is also doing the extended cut showings on those days in June. So it's not just AMC after all. I just ordered my tickets.

Therefore he sent some of the Riders into the Shire, with orders to disperse while traversing in it; and of these Khamul was to find Hobbiton, where 'Baggins' lived, according to Saruman's papers. But the Black Captain established a camp at Andrath, where the Greenway passed in a defile between the Barrow-downs and South Downs; and from there some others were sent to patrol the eastern borders, while he himself visited the Barrow-downs. In notes on the movements of the Black Captain at that time it is said that the Black Captain stayed there for some days, and the Barrow-wights were roused, and all things of evil spirit, hostile to Elves and Men, were on watch with malice in the Old Forest and the Barrow-downs.'

Therefore, he was very close to Bombadil's house, but did not go there; Goldberry would more than likely not have been as amorous to him. Also, he "probably" wouldn't have given the Ring back to Frodo.

I think there is no doubt that Bombadil would not have given the Ring back, if he were in league with the Nazgul. Also, after the war was over, and the Witch-King had already been destroyed, Gandalf turned away to see Bombadil when the hobbits were on their way back to the Shire. I doubt that Gandalf would have been fooled by Bombadil. I also doubt that Elrond and Erestor would have been fooled either. That link is just a good example of how logic can be applied in erroneous ways.

I'm thinking about doing it. But the price you pay for all three you own the bluray! I might just go see Return of the king

It's nationwide as most movie theaters will be showing all three extended versions of the movie before the Blu-ray even arrives in stores.

Unfinished Tales has some seriously interesting stuff in it, both about the Ring era and before. In one story Gandalf really comes across as the totally calculating wizard I always suspected him to be. I also love the Numenor story.
