Okay. I have a Samsung Infuse phone and used it for the following images taken from my pro calibrated plasma.

The quality of these shots is not good (I have hardly ever taken pictures with it) as they are soft and contrast blown out a bit in the breakfast shot as well as "crushed" from the camera; but it DOES show the color differences I am talking about it.

These photos represent much closer to the color I am basically seeing (still not exact, but close) - and as you can see they look nothing like the heavy teal screenshots we are all seeing on our monitors. That is my only point to show with these.

I received my extended set in the mail yesterday...glorious! Love the packaging with the black cases. I previewed FOTR for the color issue. There is definately something "off" about the color. It doesn't hinder my viewing experience though.

That's pretty much how I see everything, with the right settings. If I watch with contrast on high, and the color on "Cool" or "Normal", the green/dimness fades.. but if I switch the a "Warm" setting, I can see it.

Yeah, I love the packaging. A great successor to the green/red/blue book-style packaging of the DVDs.

I need to go over it again, but I think my FOTR disc 2 might have an issue. When Gandalf brings his staff down on the bridge of Khazad-Dum, there isn't a sound. However when they replay this in the beginning of TT, there's a very nice "crash" to it. Hopefully it was just a playback issue.

I noticed that inconsistency yesterday as well. The only sound in FotR is the swoosh of the dust and stuff. In TTT, there's a BOOM SUB RUMBLE.

So I finally watch FOTR today and lo and behold there's a problem with my disc. It freezes and skips from when Gandalf goes to meet Saruman until Sauron tells Saruman to build him an army. Guess I have to return it to Best Buy and get a new copy.

The thing i'm worried about is getting another copy where something is wrong. With as big of a set as this is, there's more chances to have problems. What are the odds of this happening? (Feel free to call me paranoid).

Did not notice any green tint although Moria was rather darker than the rest of the film. (Could be by design).

Welcome to the wonderful world of }}}BLACK CRUSH{{{.

BTW, Moria is where it stands out the most, however it is all through most of the movie here and there.

And if it is somehow by design, then they are trying to match that Michael Bay look with the blown out contrast that has become the BIG Hollywood fad nowadays sadly.

Huh? FOTR looks nothing like a Michael Bay movie.

Same here. I notice the tint early on but not to the exaggerate extent of the pictures posted a few pages back.

Some scenes look more like a Transformers movie... "Farthest away from home" scene is my best example. I wish the picture would actually get bright, but it doesn't. It's pretty dim throughout, unless you switch your set to "torch mode" or watch in a very dark room.

Thanks. I might try that after I watch the rest of the trilogy this week just to make sure everything is ok there.

Do I just use the "Contact Us" tab on the bottom of the main WB website and tell them my disc is defective or is there another area that would get better results?

Could be your player since this is a 6.1 DTS title; if you are not bitstreaming you may get the clipping problem with Mediatek decoder like in the old Oppo.

I picked up the extended edition last night at Best Buy yesterday, but not sure which one I got. I noticed there are two different versions listed on this site. There is one that was released in 2011 and one released earlier this year. How can I tell which version I own?

Newer one doesn't have digital copies. There are no differences in the disc contents.

I'm thinking about getting this but kind of worried about the PQ and audio from reading some of these posts.

Fry's has it for $40 shipped. Is it worth it?

There is nothing wrong with the audio quality. It's likely the person's hardware.

Are you sure? I was reading back a few pages in this thread and someone mentioning something about sounds from the movie not coming up during play?

How's the PQ?

You've got 664 pages to read. It may take some time.

That's not the case. There's an inconsistency between "You shall not pass" in FotR and TTT.

The PQ is fine if you can accept the color timing change in FotR.
