In the database, there's a Canadian Blockbuster exclusive for the EE trilogy. Can anyone tell me what is exclusive about this set?

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-L...Blu-ray/28383/

I tried searching for a response to this question, but I could not find anything.

Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know if they plan to release The Lord of the Rings EE all on one blu ray disk, one movie per disk that is instead of breaking them up on to two different ones! Don't really care about all the extra stuff I just want the blu ray EE movies on one disk each. You should not have to get up half way through the movie to switch disk!

I think that since the movies are so long, it may not be just commentaries that make it unable to fit on one disk. It would be nice to have it on one disk, but I would not want them to sacrifice picture and sound quality by dropping the bit rates. If they had to do that, then what's the point of buying it on blu-ray (ie to have the best audio/video quality)?

With the help of an exacto knife, rubber cement, and the blu ray covers, I cut out the blu ray logo from the spine and made my custom extended edition set. I just couldn't get rid of the beautiful dvd versions case. (I know they are white, and not gold to match, but that doesn't bother me. Most covers have a white blu ray logo, so it matches the blu ray collection.)

The blu ray discs match the inside of the case almost exactly. The front and rear cover from the blu ray is salvaged and inserted into the pocket.

Is there a reason why Fellowship of the Ring doesn't look as good as Two Towers and Return of the King on the Extended Edition Trilogy Blu-ray? o.O

Nice, I'll probably do the same thing when these get cheap enough. I'd be tempted to go get a gold marker and color in those logos though (and probably paste em over the dvd logo. Even though the set contains both formats, the meat is on blu).

I feel it's more because the contrast balance is off. The whites are at 80% instead of 100%, so everything feels duller (and enhances the teal push the film received).

Does anyone know if Alliance Canada uses the same transfer on their release of Extended Trilogy? Is the Canadian release any different from the US one? Have heard much negativity about Alliance authored releases in general and just wanted to be sure before taking the plunge. Thank you.

Wow! This is EXACTLY what I had planned to do with my set too. Glad you bet me to it The Extended DVD set is just too beautiful to be taken off the shelf

Alliance is pretty good now. In the early days they recycled some cropped HDTV broadcasts for BD that gave them a bad name.

This set uses the exact same transfers as the US, but they added some annoying trailers that you have to skip.

Many thanks Does it come with a bilingual packaging or English only, please? Just curious!

The box looks just like the US except they substituted the Alliance logo and added French sub-titles in very small text.

Hey I just saw Alliance released individual EEs in BB/FS. Similar artwork to the US slips but not glossy and lower quality.

Well, the Canadian individual releases have dropped the extra discs!

Thanks for the image!

Ah that would explain why they were cheaper.

I was at Best Buy yesterday and saw the individual Blu-Rays of The Extended Editions of The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. I think that the reason why they don't have the additional three discs with the special features is because there aimed towards the people who already have the 4-Disc DVD Sets. It is weird that the Canadian Individual Releases don't have the extra three discs whereas the American Individual Releases do. They were only $15.99 each.

I think they'd be a good purchase if you already have the 4-Disc DVD sets since the same extras from the DVD sets were included in the Blu-Ray boxset.

I figure since the Canadian Individual Releases don't have the extras discs, people who already own the 4-Disc DVD Sets can buy the Extended Editions Individually on Blu-Ray and keep the DVD sets for the extras. Its cool that you swapped the discs in your DVD sets with the Blu-Rays.

The reason why the Extended Editions are spread across two Blu-Ray Discs is to present the best Picture & Sound Quality that Blu-Ray is capable of. Same goes for the 4-Disc DVD Sets. When the 3-Disc Extended Collector's Edition of Avatar was released on Blu-Ray I was hoping the movie would be spread across two discs to get the best quality. However the movie still looked great on one disc.

If they ever develop a format that can hold more data than Blu-Ray, they will probably be present the Extended Editions on one disc at the best quality available.

With Best Buy's U&S, these can be had for:

21.99 (Fellowship)
19.99 (Two Towers and ROTK).

So basically 60 bucks for all 3 individual sets. Not a bad price. I'll definitely jump on this.

Ok price, but not great either. The Extended trilogy has been down to $40 during this past Christmas, and I bought it for $50 last month. Check out the price graph under the "price history" to see how much the price fluctuates at amazon.com: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-L...Blu-ray/59886/

It seems like right now is not a good time to buy as it's up again. The price of this movie is liking buying stocks, sometimes up, sometimes down and not very consistent.
