I'm very interested in this at that price but I have a love-hate upgrading DVD/BD for some reason, theres a worry you cant get rid of an old release and packaging things securely can be a bind.

Fair enough, but grim's in the UK and there are plenty of options available to people. That said, he's not the first Britisher I've heard complain they they can't get rid of their old releases. I think folks either aren't looking in the right places or they expect to get several pounds for decade-old DVDs...

Wasnt there some controversy about the colour change on FOTR? Assuming every extra from the old set is there I could upgrade.
What are the menus like? I loved the menu music etc on those old releases. |

Different color timing, leaning more towards green. Gives the film a tad darker look overall, but it does mess with the blue sky in the shire and the snow quite a bit. |

The detail is amazingly good in the remastered FOTR. Sooooo many people complain about the new timing (which doesn't bother me in the least) that they completely overlook how sharp and unfiltered it is, it's gorgeous.

Nobody who is unhappy with the color timing of FOTR "overlooks" it's increased sharpness. To some, the right colors are just equally (or even more) important. See "the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" for further clarification.
