You do have a point there. I may be asking for too much because I own the iTunes copy of the extended editions and they play in their entirety without breaks/intermissions. I only thought the blu-rays were the same.

This exactly. Quality is more important than convenience, otherwise I'd be buying digital downloads and nothing else. (For any smart-asses out there: I understand that Blu-Ray itself is a "convenience" format itself, but you should understand hyperbole when you see it.)

Plus, it's nice to have the film maker choose a break point, especially when you're gonna need potty time before the movie's over.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I like to use anything but the pause button. (Usually a bucket or water bottle or the crevices in my leather couch.)

Alright, kidding. It just drives me insane how everyone on Amazon gave this one star for not being on one disc when the movie is FAR too long to fit on one disc with any level of comfort.

Me too! My reasoning would be to have a "backup copy" just in case lol

Dammit. Got the extended box set in the mail today from Amazon and one of the special feature dvds had a tiny (and I mean tiny) crack in the inner ring. It plays, but I'm worried that it could get worse over time and possibly shatter inside my PS3.

I wonder if Amazon would do a return for a whole set just because of one disc being bad....

They probably would. But I would contact WBHV first to see if they could just replace that disc. I would explain that you thought it might be easier on everyone since it's only one disc with them versus shipping 15 discs back and forth with the retailer who would then have to do the same with WBHV as well anyways.

They absolutely will. Contact them as soon as it's convenient for you to do so. If you've never had to return an item go into your account where you manage your orders. To the right of the order you will see "return or replace an item". Click it and feel out the report. They will ship you a replacement immediately. You just have to send the defective one back before a certain date (Usually you have a month or more from the time you request a replacement to return the defective item.) or you will be charged for both. Returns have free shipping and have tracking so you and Amazon can make sure it doesn't get lost. They won't charge you for the defective set if it gets lost by the mail carrier. They will ask you whether you want to drop the return set off at your local UPS or they can schedule a driver to come out to your house and pick it up.

It's a very convenient no fuss process, and you shouldn't have any problems getting a new set.

Once I got a season of a TV show with a bad disc, and they just sent a whole new copy of the set (didn't even make me ship the old one back).

The crack is so small, though....You'd really have to be looking hard to see it. And after hearing about Amazon banning people's accounts for returns...I'm a little apprehensive.

I might try contacting WBshop first, as Petra pointed out.

I just picked this up again. I had it previously but sold it when I heard it was being converted to 3D. That seems to be not happening now so I got in on the 29.99 sale at Amazon.

Yeah, Petra's idea is the best - BUT, email or call (I always prefer to call ) Amazon so it'll get on your record how far you're going to help them out. And there are no tiny cracks, they grow!

This scares the hell out of me 'cause I'm getting this set for Christmas - but I know it was bought last year (from BB) and if it has any cracks, I'm screwed. I'm also getting the Hogwarts set - which is, what, 31 discs?

Emailed WBHV and they're sending me a replacement disc. Now hopefully it's the same exact disc and the art matches up...

Thanks for the suggestion Petra!

Default Do iTunes digital copies still work?

I have an unopened set from a few years back which includes digital copies. I see from the box that it expired 6/28/12 but sometimes the codes keep working for quite awhile longer. Does anyone know if these codes are still working?

Just try them. Some will, some won't.

Call the Studio's Customer Service line.
They might replace the code.

The '17 Year Journey' Video from the Warner Bros UK Youtube page appears to show somewhat altered color grading for The Fellowship of the Ring.

Here's an example (the first pic is from the iTunes version of the EE and the second is from the 17 Year Video).

Is there any difference for the UK boxset between the original entertainment in video release and the current warner bros release in terms of packaging?
